Comments: The freight train crux makes the experience complete!
I can not remember topping out without the train, you might want to hang out in the upper dihedral and wait for one to come so you may have the pleasure of doing the upper crux ...properly.

Comments: I am not usually one to say chop-chop, but "the bolt" is absolutely not needed.
Many many sound traditional placements are nearby.

Comments: This route is in as of 12/4/06, good ice and stuff.
The steep snow thing has melted out and is prehaps only 15 feet tall now.

Comments: Yeah, it scared the crap out of us too!
Surely the most unique situations I have ever climbed in.

Echo has not yet touched down, but it is still nice to see ice!
Two short flows have formed up the hill from Echo, easy but fun.

Comments: I drove up to Kyle canyon today, 11/30/06 and the Hose Monster was clearly forming up!!!

The ice was grey and thin, prehaps 2-3 feet across, but the sight of ice in the desert was good for the soul!
These cool temps are doing their job, and maybe another week of the same will bring things into some kind of shape.

The lower pitches of the VHM usually form up after the stunning upper pitch, fending off those unprepared to go for it.

Comments: You may link this route with Echo falls by topping out and walking south/ south east about 100 feet where you can hook up with the Cathedral trail.
