There is hard grey/black ice, that is, wherever you can see it through the dirt, gravel and cobbles, and there are all sorts of stuff melting out of Mill's Glacier from eras past..... There is lots of water flowing over the surface, carrying debris of all sizes, and lots of free water between the ice and rock.
