As a result the sun may not hit the bottom of many walls like gold wall, and especially the pillow wall(where many of the 5.8 and 5.9s are)and the cold air which drains local terrain may keep the bottom of the canyon below 40 deg. You may be hard pressed to find 5.8 or 5.9 in the sun. Be prepared for frigid belays!
