Comments: Correction to the camping info above- HCD is located on Stanislaus National Forest land, not BLM land.

Location: CA : SF Bay Area : Castle Rock State Park : Bates Arete Boulder By: Rob Behrens When: May 9, 2005 | view comment >> |
Comments: There are actually 2 other problems, 1) a variant off the main arete problem, and 2) a SDS problem on the adjacent boulder starting low down. Bit contrived, but interesting.

Location: CA : SF Bay Area : Castle Rock State Park : Magoos, The : Up and Over (V1) By: Rob Behrens When: Mar 7, 2005 | view comment >> |
Comments: This is pretty non specific info. That traversing arete has multiple variations. And the name is not an original in all likelihood.

Comments: Seems like this problem is listed twice. Seems like "Arete we having fun" is also the same problem.

Location: CA : SF Bay Area : Castle Rock State Park : Magoos, The : Northern Roof (5.10a) By: Rob Behrens When: Mar 7, 2005 | view comment >> |
Comments: Again, the name indicated here is not the original name. Though it does often go by "roof problem" if done as a true roof problem with no low feet.

Comments: Again, just to be clear. The name given here is not necessarily the proper name for this problem.

Location: CA : SF Bay Area : Panther Beach By: Rob Behrens When: Sep 22, 2003 | view comment >> |
Comments: Just checked it out on Sunday. Tide was too high to bother, but you can see how a "beach day" could be made into a "bouldering" session.

Comments: I checked with locals. One person reported to the authors that they were there on Labor Day (monday) 2003 and the first gate was not locked on that day, though of course as previously reported the second gate is locked due to some Burea of Reclamation and County issues.

Not even close.I dare say it's not even a 1/2 mile long. A 1/4 mile? Doubt it.

Comments: This is a great climb. At 2/3rds height you turn from facing toward the slab all the way around to use holds on the roof/back of the chimney to make progress easy.
