By: RKM When: 5 days ago | view comment >> | Comments: I am so sorry to hear that Mystery Achievement has been retro-bolted. What was one of the best routes at Upper Breadloaves is now gone. I have climbed this route dozens of times and recommended it as a true adventure climb to many friends. It took (past tense) confidence and composure; it was protectable with patience and skill. Now, apparently, just another super easy clip up to dispatch of on the way around the rock.

Mark Ward and I drove over from Provo, Utah to work the classics. XM, Outer Space, Blackwalk, etc. Mark was belaying from the Pigeon Flake while I lead pitch two. I ran it out a bit much, and just as I pulled into the ‘cave’ belay, my hands slipped off and I kicked myself straight back into space. Went the whole pitch, ending up about 10’ below the belay.

By: RKM When: Nov 23, 2012 | view comment >> | Comments: You can downclimb from the Hostess Gully routes (also Big Time) by going to the north side and downclimb the narrow arete to a big ledge, then move back southwest onto the vertical face and with some back and forth traversing, you end up at the top of the Hostess Gully - should you ever find yourself on top without a rope.
Probably 5.5 after you have done it a few times.

About 15' of 5.5 from the top leads to easier rock - the hardest moves are dropping onto the face below the chains - should you ever find yourself on top without a rope.
