More information:
I'm not the greatest climber, but I sure love to do it. I enjoy moving over rock and ice, but mountaineering is probably my biggest passion. After finishing the Colorado 14ers in 1991, I didn't think I wanted to climb from a list again, but I wasn't getting out as much. I did Rainier, the Grand Teton and Denali, just finished all the named peaks and ranked peaks in Rocky Mtn Nat'l Parkand now I'm working on the named peaks and the ranked peaks in Indian Peaks Wilderness. I was fortunate to climb Lobuche East in Nepal and at Railay, Thailand in November of 2007 and Mt. Buet in Chomonix near Mt. Blanc in the French Alps in 2010. Next up, volcanoes on the North Island, New Zealand. I've been going down to the Ouray Ice Park for the last 15 seasons with a group of friends and I manage to get out on the ice a dozen times a year if I'm lucky. Over the years (about 25), I have been to Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Smith Rock, Shelf, Red Rocks, Tahquitz and most of the local Colorado crags. I suppliment my outdoor rock climbs with weekly sessions in the gym. If I could climb outside every week, I'd never go back in the gym again, but it does help my strength and technique. |
