Comments: I did this route a loooooooong time ago. I remember it being outstandingly fun. But when we did it there were no established anchors on top. Which made getting off more of s concern than getting up. I have nightmares about the marginal mank we rapped off. Has there been permanent anchors established?

Comments: This is a great climb. Just enough adventure to keep you focused but not enough to be desperate. My partner and I did it many, many moons ago. He broke a rigid Chouinard crampon in the middle of the crux and had to finish out with it hanging from his ankle. We walked off the North face with no raps. A lot of work and a little chossy but in those days raps were last resort.

Comments: Unfortunately Johnny Rotten can't answer questions. But Tom and Jimmy can. Jimmy told me he had worked on the FA with Rosholt. It is extremely likely Tom was there on the sharp end.

Comments: The dog is the only one spotting that fall line. The other guy is just there to be sure he lands on the dog.

Great route! All things considered possibly the best on the PW.

It is the Chasm Wall North rim.

Comments: Ben, I would be somewhat careful about making a blanket invitation to everyone to climb on the PW. Your perspective is slightly skewed by climbing established routes that have been cleaned up by a multitude of previous ascents. Step 15 feet to either side and you would experience the PW of the '70s and '80s. It really is a vertical choss pile. And I say that with all respect. Complex route finding is often the crux on PW routes. A 5.10 climber with limited practical experience could easilly wand... more >>

Comments: Yeah MossMan it necks down near the top. Both Kindergarten and SD are great climbs to put a budding young rock rat on.
It's funny that this is called "Sunshine Dihedral" as it is almost always dark and more of a flared chimney than a corner.

Comments: Ah, the Hanoi Hilton. Does having suffered through a few stays there qualify me to run for president? This bivy site has earned the infamy of this moniker for its renowned accommodations which do not include spaciousness and comfort. The HH bivy is not a ledge but more of a jagged lump on the wall. Three people could make a go of it, but they will likely end up too close for their spouses comfort.

Comments: Pulaski used to have an interesting way to rate climbs. The S system.
It was based on how many shits you had to take. S1 being fairly easy up to S7 you are going to die.
Cake walk would have been an S3 route for Tom that is.

Comments: Hey Scott Mr MossMan
Bob is an amazing cat. One of the smartest and funniest people I have ever known. Back in the day we considered him a mobile epic maker. He wasn't having fun unless everyone was gripped. I remember one time, in the mid seventies, on an early ice climbing trip to Lake city. He was driving, his 6'5" frame barely wedged into his tiny Datsun, at 70 mph on the icy, snowpacked road between cliff face and frozen lake. Around one corner the speeding car lost its grip and we did a fu... more >>

Comments: Scott, Three Pin is a fabulous route that I am sure you must have done. It is the prominent, right-facing dihedral about 50 feet right of Christene's Dream and about 100 feet left of Gymnastics.

Comments: Scott you can see they cracks leading up Bronco Billy's in the picture of Guanos Dios. Just above the plant life to the left of the climber. It is at the right hand apex of the bouldering traverse you mentioned. I remember a lot of sketch bouldering sessions under the big roof. Actually it's kind of a blue haze.
