I climbed "All Mixed Up" on 11/21. Though I hadn't been on the route before, it didn't feel too mixed. (That is, until optimism caused me to swerve onto rock on the last pitch and pull off a cooler sized rock-eek.) Most of it felt like well-protected WI3 with only a few short verticals to send the black fear blooming. Screws will suffice, yet I was glad to have a few rock pieces for the belays. Make sure you take a headlamp. Don't ask me how I know this-just trust me. Our descent was really, really thought provoking. And really, really dark. Also, there was profanity. In our retreat, my partner managed to abandon a thermos of tea and a mitten at the base of the bowl beneath the climb. I'm sure some sort of beer reward could be haggled. Cheers. |
