Comments: This route is very good. A long pitch with a snappy boulder problem followed by a stretch of super fun crack climbing. Area classic. Thanks for putting this one in.

Comments: Any input on the left finish for Hungry Wolf? I did it yesterday and thought it was a nice addition to the wall. It still has the big boulder problem on Hungry Wolf, followed up by some decent crack/face climbing that will continue to clean up.
Thanks

Comments: Definitely one of the better routes at the wall.

Comments: This can be made more difficult by climbing directly up the face and avoiding the crack feature for the first couple of bolts. Not sure which start is better, but the crux "battle" is unavoidable and quite fun. Clip the chains on the left.

Comments: I would also like to see a bolted anchor for this pitch. The tree belay is a difficult and potentially dangerous rope pull. Great pitch.

Comments: Take care at the belay station below the climb. There's a detached brick in the crack below and left of the anchors. Your left foot and this doomstone will be playing footsy. Excellent trundle candidate, but clear the road.

Comments: Has anyone who's done both this pitch and Big Baby at The Creek have an opinion comparing the two? Thanks.

Comments: The new guidebook lists this as 80 feet, but that is incorrect. A 50 meter rope will not make it down. Great route.

Come on man, that Bloom guidebook is the Bible for gear beta. I've never been sandbagged by it. Well....maybe once.

Comments: Ha, no kidding. We pretty much spilled the beta beans.
The draws were looking good, although the one DMM draw under the roof (bolt 5, I think) was getting a pretty solid notch. If I get back up there soon, I'll bring a draw to leave if it really needs it. If I switch it out, do you want it back? I think it was one of those sewn DMM guys.

Comments: Darren,
I think that the observation about height dependency is spot on. I am a tall guy with a wingspan of 6 foot, and the low crux (bolts 2-3) felt reasonable (V4ish) for me. I was working the route with someone who is considerably shorter, and she had a tougher time at this spot due to the fact that she had to use some terrible holds.
I wasn't trying to initiate any sort of grade debate, merely indicate that it might feel easier for some. You said it better than me with regards to the hei... more >>

Comments: This might turn out to be a candidate for one of those assinine "12D," "No, it's 12C," "No, it's 12C/D" arguments, but The Gauntlet is solid 5.12 on fantastic stone. Thanks a ton to Darren for bolting this and leaving draws up to encourage traffic. Highly recommended.

Comments: As well, you shouldn't need draws for 80 feet. Typically, it has fixed draws and leaver biners on the chains. Bring one, just in case.
