Comments: I climbed this route with Paul in the 80's. Great route, great guy. I see the hat has the bill pointed backwards, the orientation he used for serious climbing :).

Comments: Here is a little history of this area.

Tony Grenko and I started the development of this area in the very late 1970s and early 1980s. During this time we were climbing in tennis and hiking shoes and using hexes and nuts for protection. We learned to climb by reading books (Rock Climbing by Peter Livesey, Ropes Knots and Slings for Climbers by Walt Wedlock, Basic Rockcraft and Advanced Rockcraft by Royal Robins) We did not have a bolt kit, or even know about bolts.

Comments: Be very concerned about the 1/4 bolts. I know of two which broke under body weigth in the early 1990s. One was on the Citedal and one was in the Dona Anna's.

Comments: I seem to recall someone taking the summit register from either North Rabbit Ear or the Citedal to the NMSU library. This would have have happened no later than the early 1990s.
