Comments: Wow, I agree completely with Stewarts comments, most of the routes here are top notch. Yesterday was my first day of climbing there, and I was quite impressed. Did everything on Solar Slab in about two hours, and had a blast doing it. It lived up to its name too, the rock was warmer than the air I think. Anyway, some of the routes need some travel before they clean up, but thats to be expected.

I spent a few days exploring the bouldering opportunities in the park, and I'm impressed. One of th... more >>

Comments: So, are the two routes listed as projects in the guide still unclimbed? Anyone been working on these routes?

Comments: This is a really overlooked rock. Climbing here feels a lot more remote than the rest of the garden. I've climbed on the south east side of this rock for several hours and not seen a single other person, which is unique for the garden of the gods.

Comments: Just to throw in my two cents- I also used to always climb far to the right then back across on this climb. We looked at the direct route, and there was a dangerous teetering block above and to the left of the bolt, so we decided to go right. Fun, and a warm up for above.

And even though I have mixed feelings about some of the retrobolting, I really appreciate what you guys (the trail work crew) are doing for my back yard. I've lived literally three houses from the park my whole life, and have... more >>

Comments: This is my all time favorite climb in the garden. I'm not really sure why, there is so much great climbing around, but there's something really cool about this climb. It is one of the least sustained, least aestetic climbs around, but that only adds to the fun. Almost any time I'm in the central garden and have 10 minutes to spare I seem to wind up on the neat little summit.

I'm not too sure about the choping you mention. I've been climbing this often since 1998 I'd guess, and noticed almost no... more >>

Comments: Another option is to do what I did: Lead mighty thor, then lower down over this route (or any of the three routes with equally high pins: the fixer, pure energy, rocket fuel) and clip the first pin. Pull the rope carefully and the rope should stay clipped to the first pin.

GREAT climb. I absolutely love slab climbing, and the first 60 feet of Rocket Fuel and Pure Energy are as good as it gets for sandstone. The headwall is tricky, but if you follow the pockets on the right it seems only to be ... more >>

Comments: I felt rather safe on this climb to be honest, never more than a few feet from a pin. I do agree though that all of the metal on this route isn't the greatest, but oh well.
