Location: CA : Los Angeles County : Santa Monica Mountains : Echo Cliffs : Left Flank : Wet Bush (5.10a) By: Pam Neal When: Apr 12, 2013 | view comment >> |
Comments: ucidoug.....while the rock (rhyolite) in the Santa Monica Mountains isn't the best, it's unlikely that a critical hold broke off. Wet Bush is a bit of a sandbag at 5.10b.

Location: CA : Los Angeles County : Angeles National Forest : Texas Canyon : Tower of Babel : Fat Bottom Girl (5.10b) By: Pam Neal When: Apr 2, 2013 | view comment >> |
Comments: This is a great route to do on a very hot, no wind day. Due to the narrow nature of the corridor, it can become a wind tunnel, but always shady. It is pumpy and sustained, but lots of fun. Across the wall is the easier Bald Headed Men to warm up on.

Comments: For full value, climb the "fin" only. Don't even touch the right wall.

Comments: Wow, that's doing it the hard way. There's no need to lieback the flake, as the face to the climbers left is clean and well featured.

Comments: The last route to go up in the Tea Room. The moves send the climber weaving left and right. Bolt line is straight, but the route must be solved with creative lateral movement.

Comments: My favorite in the Tea Room because of its sustained quality. It never lets up until the anchor.

Comments: We had similar concerns, but luckily no falls. Would the FA party consider rebolting the route to make it safe?

Location: CA : Los Angeles County : Santa Monica Mountains : Echo Cliffs : Test Site : Placebo (5.10a) By: Pam Neal When: Feb 25, 2010 | view comment >> |
Comments: This is a really fun and different climb for Echo---power laybacking and stemming. I agree it is a sandbag at 5.10, but definitely worth doing while in the Test Site.

Comments: Fenn Gliddich, or "The Fenn," is an unusual feature for Echo Cliffs, and adds fun variety to the norm at Echo.

Location: CA : Los Angeles County : Santa Monica Mountains : Echo Cliffs : Test Site : Intellitoys (5.9) By: Pam Neal When: Jan 3, 2010 | view comment >> |
Comments: Intellitoys is soon to be a very popular classic, due to location, rating, quality, and length. Shady in the morning until about noon, this is a great warm-up for other routes in the Test Site.
