Comments: I just love this image of Dale! IMO: Dale is right up there with ANY of the true heros of the sport of rock climbing! Easly one of the best crack climbers that ever lived. Dale excelled on ice as well.Check out the image of Dale on pg.103 of Yvon Chouinard's "Climbing Ice"

Comments: Keep on posting your stuff Bob. You're the real deal!
Beagle A.H. is a long time friend and personal hero of mine of mine as well. He is one of those folks that would pop up in strange places. I remember he was working in a "Burnstine Appleby" electronics store in Cynderella City shopping mall back in the late '70s. He got me into climbing the cracks between support posts below the parking structure of the mall. Turned out to be good crack training. One of his Eldo. routes "----spar" I posted an... more >>

Comments: Allen that is a terrible place to bivi. Did you even have rain gear? That ledge is not a bad place to re rack and get going. I wouldn't want to do that runout face on the last pitch in the dark or in the rain. I am sure that to staying put until morning was the right choice. So close, yet, so far away!

Comments: Scott and Allan, I posted an image of the page in "Climb" with Dave Bell leading Tongo that both of you mentioned. I posted it on MP in my album labeled "My Stuff". I would have liked to have posted here, but I was unsuccessful.
Slim, Allan posted that great image of Dave by the river. I am glad that we all have access to it here on MP.

Comments: I just noticed the shoes hanging from my swami.
WOW!!!
If you don't remember the" Nike Waffle Trainers" you weren't in Eldo.much during that period of time.
I remember one day in Eldo. (after the shoe had been discontinued in the stores) Kevin Donald noticed that I was wearing a new pair of NWT's, He offered a premium price to buy them right off my feet.
I realized their value and didn't sell them to Kevin.
They were the first athletic shoe that we found that climbed well.

Comments: If you are a windsurfer and need a break from the nuking winds in The George or if the wind shuts off and you have your shoes there is plenty of mostly moderate bouldering and toproping at this unique little tucked away jewel of a spot. I have lead a few fairly steep pitches there as well. Definantly worth going out of your way to visit.
