Comments: If you venture on the Cruise you will compare every climb in your portfolio to it.
It will allow you to utilize all those hard learned lessons stored in your rockcraft quiver and allow you to create others.
If you are willing to accept the level of commitment that it takes to do a climb of this caliber you will be rewarded with an amazing level of confidence that will allow you passage further along in the game.

I am not saying that after "The Black"... more >>

Comments: This place is, and has always been, a backyard adventurer theater. It's dificult to protect and harder, steeper, and way more committing than you think it should be, or want it to be.
If you take it for granted, underestimate it, or over estimate your abilities, it will eat your lunch!

Comments: This was always a good place to boulder. Every day I would excavate a few more rocks and it got deeper and deeper! Maybe some of you have continued the project. It seemed that it could go on for ever.
The Cock Pit became twice as long as when I found it, Maybe it's three times by now.

Comments: Even though it's closed, I'm pleased to see this little area posted on this site.
Back in the early 70s you just never knew who you would run into at N.T.C., Dave Breashears, and Art Higbee among many others. I taught a lot of beginners their basic rock climbing skills at N.T.C. It was perfect for teaching due to its diverse nature. It has every size crack and every angle of face. It has some great leads, top ropes and bouldering. Nothing is far from the car and it is pleasantly shaded in the he... more >>

Comments: Thanks for all the positive feed back on "The Mississippi Halfstep"!

Back in the early 80's Maurice Reed and I toped out on "Cynical Pinnacle" after an ascent of "Wunsch's Dihedral" and there it was "Poe Buttress"! It's awesome from that vantage point! After calling around, we weren't able to find out much about what was called "Poe Buttress", except that Peter Hubble had been looking at the line also.

We returned the next week with a pile of gear and gardening tools. Any thing new in the P... more >>

Comments: Maurice Reed and I put this one and I think we called it "Ride um Rueboy"
This was done during the same time period that we put up "Hubba Bubba"
It was a magic period for the Platte there was just so much to do.

"Bad Ju-Ju" is a severely overhanging crack that Noel Childs and Mike Bearzi(sp found. After a day of climbing, Noel and I were hiking down from Cynical Pinnacle, and he asked me if I minded making a detour, because he wanted to show me something he had found. I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw it! I wanted to jump on it that very moment, but Noel said that he and Bearzi found it together, and they were planning to do it together soon. I told him Cool, but I intended to do the second ... more >>

Comments: When Steve Morris and I did the second assent of this crack I chimneyed for along way up the inside. I thought that I could squeeze out just past the crux. The crack proved to be just too tight so I had to slither back down and do the outside all the way. I did get for my efforts though, a good large piece that allowed me to run it out to the top with out putting in any more gear.
It was a fairly long runout but I was able to do the whole climb with only one piece. In the future I believe that I ... more >>

Comments: An alternative to the regular Morrison bouldering/climbing:

Drive about a mile (west) out of Morrison up Bear Creek Canyon.
On the south side of the canyon (across the river) there is a severely overhanging face with two bolted routes on it.

The Bearicade, 5.12?, F.A. me and a bunch of my friends.
Kodiak Arrest, 5.13? F.A. Rufus Miller, Dave Twinum is on the right.

The climbs are about 100' above the river and can be spotted easier by driving past and turning around.

There is a large spot t... more >>

Comments: For many years we had this place all to ourselves. When it was cold and snowy, the gang from Bolder came down. We put up most of the obvious stuff and had a real good time. It was our club! It's where we trained and met our adventurer partners. It was a great scene, and I hope that it still is.

Comments: Many years back. I linked the first pitch of Turf Spreader to The Rising Crescendo to Center Route to Class Act. I called the combo "Hot Rise" I think it's in one of the guide books. It is well worth the effort!
