Comments: This area is labeled "Western Infirmary Slabs" in Gillett's new (spring '09) guide for St. Vrain Canyon. It contains several other routes that aren't listed on here (I have yet to get there to look around much).

Comments: As of 9/13/09 the right hand summit - at the top of the zig zag crack route - only has one chain/bolt. There's one empty hole and one hole that's been cemented over. The rock up there has a bit of a hollow ring to it as well. We couldn't find any real way to back up the chains. Climber beware.

There are two chains on the left hand side - at the top of knee catcher.

Comments: The bouldering area has just been expanded - they added a small vertical wall where the rope ladder used to be and increased the severe overhang in the back corner.

Comments: The girl in the pic looks to me to be a few feet right of the "Wide Crack" route. I did it by going up to the lower tree and turning an overhang (stout 5.4) and getting established in a crack with nice hand jams for a few moves to another tree above which the angle lessened to a nice finish at a slot of sorts on top.

Comments: I think the route described here is in Rossiter's Flatirons guide (Falcon) as "Standard Inside East Face" (he calls it 4th Class). It would protect very well with lots of rests.

The Dihedral route is not 5.1, though probably not harder than 5.4 and offers good jams and stems directly up the dihedral formed with the junction of the first and second pinnacles.

Comments: Regarding the approach - I'd recommend the northern approach - it's a bit less steep on the hiking and you can see the crags the whole time your hiking. Just don't go up too high in the talus and you've got relatively easy access to all the rock there.

Carry some webbing and rap rings or leaver biners. We left a sling on Woodstone. The webbing on Sharksfin is ok, but could some new would make you feel better.

Fun area - we had the whole place to ourselves - certainly feels alpine in nature.

Comments: In the attached picture, this route is to the left, but not really visible. You can make out the left crack (5.5), but the right crack (5.6) is hidden by the arete. It is NOT one of the numbered routes in the photo.

Comments: After you've got the rope hanging from the anchors, take a lap and climb the face out to the left of the normal dihedral, adds a new twist to the route. The face moves probably go at 5.5 or 5.6.
