Comments: Finally! So the FFA of Blackbeard's Tears! Wow.
Brilliant Work, Ethan!

Blackbeard’s Tears, ahh... its fissure, its white-noise cacophony of wind, and wave-shore action...

This is that rare kind of cliff that has the ability to intrinsically "gift us" an awesome flow experience...

Perhaps you know this; it's the sharing of the rope, and the willing desire to seek out the uncertainty of new ro... more >>

Comments: Perhaps, Mr. Griffin, perhaps.

We all interpret things according to our own paradigm.

Not yellow dots but white patches. That is, I have found these 1/8-1/4" sections to be powder-coated with a fine layer of particulate matter, so beware.

Comments: Of what I did here, so long ago: I could have mapped, named, rated, spewed, all about the boulders & route details.
But after the amazing meeting I had on the beach with a resident elk, I concurred with him that his neighborhood, this place, well, it needs to be free from the hordes who tend to visit beautiful places, and end up loving them too much.
Ossagon really deserves to keep its obscurity, and its original and uncertain character intact.
This means not naming/rating an FA of an overhangin... more >>

Comments: Yeah, when these lines were first touched, Ludwig & I were psyched not to do any hooking to initially set the anchor to do this route up; thankfully, there was an easier way up to the anchor nook over the top to the right.

After Rich belayed me, and I pounded some pins, thin pro (-almost dicy-) But one bomber piece was good though, (can't remember) Two or three tied off blades, as I recall.

We all TR'd it that day swinging out and laughing and congratulating ourselves. Petch and his... more >>

Comments: Indeed, and I'm pretty sure Tim soloed everything on this outcrop, including Dream Theme, Nightmare, etc. ... he'd go up the harder ones and then down climb the easier ones...nevertheless, to name a route after one's sweetie is admirable!

Comments: M.N. & the 0.31% F.A. Folks out there....

Ceuse; good one, Ben. Perhaps the ruse is up....

Long ago I developed an affinity for cliffs with a long approach, vistas, seclusion, & "ripe plums" to pick. So, I tend to lead less than classic FAs, and not many frequent these later, I think; I have even been derided by some.

So why add these images?...it is not a place for the inexper... more >>

Comments: Again...

Are you practiced in choosing a sheltered belay location, well-versed in the art of determining where a stone will go in relation to the angular aspects of the ascending line and the protruding features of the cliff it will likely impact, as well as being accurately able in verifying mathematically the ricocheting trajectories of suspect blocks?

No? Well then, there you have it. KEEP OUT!

While it's usually preferable to have a belay of some sort when off the dec... more >>

Comments: See? -- even another reason to not go up here....

If you go to these cliffs, someone's pet will die, or worse...

You will not be able to make any rational or logical decisions about how & when you will do, or specifically, clear, your vertical endeavor of these puzzling pieces of perched sandstone.
Losing all care and knowledge and integrity as a climber, forgetting your ground-up ethic, you will be swooned into rapping your line, blindly using a brown branch with spooky scale-like ne... more >>

Comments: I know you'll agree, this place looks like it has amazing for potential new routes, but it doesn't!

Don't even consider coming up here, leading up into the relatively unknown, solving your mysterious puzzle, wire brushing powder, prying and sending death-blocks to their destiny. Don't even be considering working your line, deciding on drilling-turning, blowing, bolting, tightening, cleverly naming your mischief - all for a crummy, dirty, dangerous route, and/o... more >>
