If you enjoy old, rusty bolts, you missed your opportunity in Rattlesnake Canyon. All of the old bolts have been replaced one-for-one with shiny 1/2" Rawls. Just don't expect tightly-bolted sport routes--the bolt spacing is still old-school. Carolyn Libuser climbs the upper headwall of Fun in the Sun, in Rattlesnake Canyon. With a marine layer obscuring the view of the ocean, Patrick Callery stands on the summit of Fun in the Sun, in Rattlesnake Canyon. Patrick Callery leads the stunning, upper headwall of Fun in the Sun, in Rattlesnake Canyon.

Don't get confused by the rope hanging straight down from Patrick. This is actually a fixed rope that hung on the route while bolts were being replaced. Patrick climbed in to this scene from the right. P1 Belay
