This might very well be the best route at Rushmore under 5.9. A lot of fun. Backpacks give you an idea of how big this one is...

Fun steep athletic route. Definitely not technical crimping or Rushmore friction. Some pretty interesting holds.

Comments: Thanks! I read the guidebook description-- thought 5.8 well-protected climb-- let's jump on that at the end of a long hot day...Figured folks should know the reality of this route before wasting time looking for it.

Comments: Agreed. I think this depends on height and climbing style. Some people actually think Fintastic is harder than Just Jugs. To me Fintastic was a soft 7 and Just Jugs a full-blown 5.9. JJ is really not my style though...

Comments: Great and unique climbing. Beginning is a bit awkward and confusing with the two alternate starts. Some moves felt 5.8ish, but after the low bolt on the direct start, it was hard to tell which path you were taking down low. As noted by others here, it looks maybe a bit easier to the right (didn't go that way). For the second though, that would entail some pendulum risk. Expect an "old school" 5.6 at any rate. The arÍte itself is fun and wonderful with unique flowing movement and amazing exposure... more >>

Comments: Cool right hand arÍte with some fun and challenging movement. Crux continues until just past 2nd bolt. Best 10 in the North Park/Veiny area along with Hail Betty. Footwork intensive. Aesthetic with unique holds. Don't miss the crazy mono-crimper for the left hand in the crux.Four stars if it was taller..

Comments: Popular. Steep but ledgy and real juggy for Rushmore. Climbed it today in humid conditions and one of the holds/ledges featured a puddle the size of a birdbath!

Comments: Thought this was one very tricky start. Didn't go well for me; had to choke the cobra pretty horrifically to get past the first bolt. Would definitely agree with WOD''s comment on the stick clip. Have to go back sometime this summer and take a second crack at this route.
