Comments: Hi folks, I'm interested in speaking with the person(s) placing bolts here over the last couple years. Feel free to contact me at lkramer@d.umn.edu

There has been some relatively recent activity and I'm interested in finding out who/what quality work is being done. Thanks!

Comments: Several large chunks of rock from above the anchors fell. Bolts and anchors appear to be in fine shape. Also, a three foot flake came off from the very top of the crack, prior to the tricky climbing moves leading up to the anchor. The flake made no contact on its way down, don't know about the upper rock. Lots of dirt on the finishing moves but the route is still climbable and the grade is not affected.

Zoom in on the photo. The two large chunks directly above the two red dots are no longe... more >>

Comments: Fall 2012 update. Just came back from Casket today. Nov 17. Strike three has some issues, a LARGE section of rock above the anchors is no longer there. The duff layer is still there and the pigeons have a nice new roost with a green roof over their head. Also, a 3 foot flake came off at the top of the crack itself, before exiting the crack to the tricky climbing moves prior to the anchors. All anchors look fine and do not appear to have taken any damage. It appears as though they were not... more >>

Comments: On average, how long does the season run on the tower? Specifically, how late in the year?

Comments: FYI- peregrines are nesting. Stop in the information building when you are getting your free annual pass (because you are a responsible climber =D) and ask about which routes are temporarily closed. Applies to Palisade and Shovel. Not all the routes, but many are affected.

Nick: "It starts below the ledge with that pigeon on it."
Lucas: Silence. Strange look.
Nick: "That's not a pigeon"

Comments: As of today, waaay too warm for ice to build. No existing ice on any routes. Significant warmth of late suggests waiting for the temps to cool off consistently before venturing far off all but the most solid of the quarry routes.

Comments: Update to parking at Casket Quarry:

Please no longer park at the old 57th Ave West entry. There is a much safer and better gravel parking lot just opposite the old entry located off 59th Ave West. This lot is adjacent to the Loll Designs HQ building.

From Duluth, continue approximately 2 blocks past Medina on 8th to Central, turn right then immediately left onto Highland. Turn right on 59th Ave W, park in the lot on the right.

From the cities, take the Central Ave exit, turn left onto Highl... more >>
