Comments: I was up in the Flatirons that day and it was incredible climbing in the mist. A beautiful Golden Eagle appeared out of nowhere just a few feet away and flew right by us. In the mist it was ethereal.

Comments: The only time I felt "glad to be alive" was when I got to the top of this and I wasn't dead yet. The start is plenty stout (harder than .9) and the route is plenty chossy. There is a ledge about 1/2 way up that is difficult to get by only because of the garbage on it that would fall down on your belayer.

There is a bridge on the road just east of the big rock dome. You can cross here and bushwhack over to the start of the trail. You have to be careful since the hill is a little steep and the raging water is at the bottom!

Rattlers in CO and WY are Prairie Rattlesnakes and rarely get longer than 6 feet.
This is clearly a Western Diamondback and they don't head north of the Pecos.
