Comments: As of July 19, crampons are not necessary for the approach. There are several large snowfields to cross and the snow is pretty hard in early morning, but we managed to do it in running shoes. Wonderful route - some loose rock of course, but generally good quality, and diverse, aesthetic climbing. In my opinion, better than the standard route on the Petit.

Comments: I thought it was a nice route. If you traverse slightly right, but not all the way to Stony Middleton, the line is pretty aesthetic.

Comments: There is a short bolted route (3 bolts plus anchors) to the right of (as you face the rock) and around the corner from Table Manners. It's a shallow crack that looks good but is not as good as I would have liked. Does anyone know what this is?
Thanks, Laura

Location: CO : CO Ice & Mixed : Vail Ice : Rigid Designator Amphitheat... By: Laura Pyle When: Feb 26, 2006 | view comment >> |
Comments: We climbed here 2/23 and 2/24...Designator was in, but the Fang wasn't. Pumphouse Falls was nice, and there was lots of snow on the approach.
One of our party may have lost a R-hand glove in the Pumphouse parking lot. Please email thecrankymonkey@yahoo.com if you find it. $10 reward and postage paid. Thanks.
