Comments: This is an amazing shot, Andy. Did you have it printed in the poster format? Sure looks that way.

Comments: Thx guys! John, just remember that stealing the camera means you'll have to haul that beast.

Comments: Thanks Burt. This is taken with Singh-Ray Gold-n-Blue polarizer filter and I have yet to figure out how to use this thing right. It confuses the heck out of the white balance on my camera.

Comments: You're supposed to have shoes for this kinda work. Otherwise, you can tweak your big toe cranking on these crimps.

Comments: Hey ChugachMan, we walked past Liberty on the way to Ptarmigan Ridge (we backed off from it). To us Liberty looked like a heap of ash, all the way to Thumb Rock, and to us it was completely out. But some guys did it the week before we were there (see other pics under Liberty). Go figure.

Comments: Thank you for your contributions guys. Following the above posts I updated the rating and removed 'PG13'. Did it 10 years ago and at first attempt I pulled out a TCU and almost decked--hence my impression. I agree that the "zip it up" kinda contradicts "PG-13". I also appreciate your advice, Ben, but I'll continue to climb at the bridge when I'm in the area :)

Comments: Thanks much, guys! We got soaked at the bottom of the cliff, climbed out in the rain, and then it immediately stopped, but the rainbow came out.
Paul, I shot this with Pentax K20D with the ultrawide Sigma 10-20mm lens and a polarizer filter. For the exposure I spot-metered the sky just above the horizon. I like this lens but it can be a bit soft (Sigma is coming out with a better version). For sharper pics I take Pentax DA* 16-50mm. I also have a Canon G10 when going to the mountains.

Comments: Hey Ryan, Rick Thompson's guidebook lists this route in the downstream Central Endless area -- I followed his designation. I just looked over the way areas are listed at MP and it is indeed different than in Thompson's guidebook. I'll contact the Administrator to move this to the appropriate location. Thanks for pointing this out.

Comments: An interesting quote regarding climbing ethics at Devils Lake. Here's the exact paragraph (emphases by the authors):
"Remember that all the climbs except a very few have been lead...and that top-roping is not considered the legitimate form of climbing at the Lake. The easy access by trail to the top of the bluffs and short climbs is an excuse for practice, but not for competence"

Comments: John, there's a pair of bolts with slings on the obvious ledge at the end of pitch 1 and on top of the Air Spire.

Comments: It is kinda idyllic right now. The skeeters are not out yet (only few) and it is not humid. The spring and the fall are the best season at Petenwell. Last year it was almost impossible to climb in mid summer because of mosquitoes.

Comments: Thanks, Burt! Really enjoyable route with awesome moves and position. Paul and Sandy Wagener talked us into doing it. Spring and fall are apparently the best to do it 'cause in the summer it gets very moist. I'd give it 4 stars if it wasn't for the dirty start and brittle flakes. Feels like climbing a "real" pitch somewhere out West.

Comments: Definitely not many lead onsights of SOGC. I'm aware of only Pete Cleveland's OS and, since yesterday, of Chris's and his buddy's. (Paul Wagener or Dave Groth would be a good source)
I was there too to see them OS this. Very impressive leads indeed. Great to see this kind of activity at the Lake.
