Comments: Leave the trail here and head for the grassy hillside in the distance. Stay on the ridge until you reach the draper ridge trail.

Comments: To access lone peak via cherry canyon trail:
start at Orson Smith Trail Head as previously mentioned hike straight up from the PAVED lot via the cherry canyon/BST access trail, See topo in photo section. (currently this trail has a closed sign on it due to flooding in the spring of 2008, but is still usable, if you find yourself in a large cravasse just look for the little orange flags marking the new trail location) Once you reach the BST then go LEFT(North) for about 100 yards or so of the ... more >>

Comments: I tried to onsite it, the falls don't feel so good if you come off weird. I haven't gone back to try again, soon... I don't think you need to top rope it either, give it a good english try on lead first.

Comments: I recommend the direct slab traverse from the top of green A direct to the dihedral, no rope drag, big runout. Probably only 5.7 climbing to the first piece.

Comments: I also found this climb to be one of the easiest on this side of the canyon, or maybe both sides.

Comments: Great route! Good place to start getting the arms workin'. You don't even have to lead it! DO belay from the top to respect the rock. Very nice short 5.9 section.
Dont let your rope suck up in the crack or rub excessively in the groves over the roof, be nice and rap the route.

Location: UT : Moab Area : Arches : Owl Rock : Owl Rock (west crack) (5.8+) By: KPRTX When: Dec 11, 2002 | view comment >> |
Comments: Fun route. Good place to start off in the desert. Very different than any other area. Even though its a crack, it takes little to know crack skills to climb. Bring some slings for rope drag and show up early, because everyone and their dog will be there too.

Location: UT : Moab Area : Indian Creek : Supercrack Buttress : Twin Cracks (5.9) By: KPRTX When: Mar 23, 2002 | view comment >> |
Comments: Great crack, easily protected and not too sustained. I will also add I would place it at a 5.8 or 5.8+ Its easy to get away without actually climbing the crack for those unexperianced indian creek cracksters like myself.
