Comments: The above pitch breakdown is spot on! Bring 2 60m, long slings to extend and reduce rope drag, follow the pitch breakdown above and you will have a very pleasant day esp if it is hot out there. This is a very soft 9 but the pro can be spacey on the crux pitch.

Comments: Also, wanted to thank Brad and Tolleen (sp?) for rescuing our very, very stuck rope. It would have been a dark descent otherwise.
A very fun and worthwhile route. Congrats Kyle on your first 10a lead!

Comments: Yes, make sure you have a few #2s (they weren't kidding) and save them for after the crux. The crack above isn't hard, just scary if you can't protect it and are tip-toeing around on bits of rock wondering if they'll break off.

And if you happen to find and get out a number 4 in the first pitch which I over-cammed as I was walking it up, I would love to get it back as it was my new found partner's piece and he worked on it for quite awhile with no success. I will make a donation in your... more >>

Comments: We did this climb on Sunday, July 6 (record temps for vegas, I think) and took 10L of h20 with us. Opted for carrying a pack (forever after referred as the "F'N"!!!pack) and a bottle or 2 on our harnesses.
We had a blast and if you're intersted there could still be a #5 cam on the 3rd chimney pitch. After 1/2 hr, we couldn't get it out. My biggest concern was that we'd need it for higher up and thankfully didn't BUT I AM GLAD WE HAD THE BIGGER GEAR. Never climbed a 5.9 chimney before... more >>

Comments: Hi
We are going to be doing several shaded routes in the canyons early July. We were considering Epinephrine and know that the chimneys are in the shade but on what pitch do we actually pop out into the sun and how feasible would it really be to do this route at this time of year?

Plus how much water do people carry in on these summer "expeditions"?
thanx
