Comments: Note that the pipes and bolts formerly used as top rope anchors in this area have been removed as part of restoration efforts at this historic site.

Comments: The rock on this route is super polished, so for climbers who are used to and enjoy climbing friction-y chimneys this might seem a little sketchy. It definitely uses more precise holds than typical chimneys, where stemming, inching, and sliding can get you a long way.

Comments: Visited this location for the first time yesterday. As others have commented this is some great rock with super easy access, but boy is it ghetto. Broken glass everywhere and some of the best people watching I have observed outside of New Jersey. Luckily my group didn't have anyone throwing bottles at us or trying to chop our ropes. We were the only climbers there, and stayed for about 4 hours during the afternoon on a Thursday.

It would be awesome if this area could be cleaned up and become a ... more >>

Comments: The 2nd to last bolt before the first belay was a spinner - it was my first multi-pitch lead so I didn't have the tools to fix it. Beware!

Comments: A super fun climb with awesome views! Makes a great first lead. The belays are on large, solid platforms that can accomodate a small party easily (we did it with three, and you could do four comfortably - so it's good for introducing people to multi-pitch). Mostly well protected. An alpine draw or extension is good for the last clip before the first belay. Overall an awesome and fun climb I would repeat again and again - not at all boring even given the easier grade. I want to free solo this as ... more >>

Comments: Traversing all the way to the left past the anchors and going up from there is reasonable for the route. The anchor placement is a bit weird (explained above) and is better for someone with longish arms in order to comfortably place gear. It is recommended to leave a directional in to the far right of the anchor (the last bolt before the anchor) since the route waggles a lot.

Comments: Good first route for those new to climbing or new to climbing outdoors, or for a first lead or for teaching someone to lead belay. This one can tend to get a little wet, but the area below can stay shady and cool on a hot day. The route thins out near the top some. When lowering, be careful not to fall into the chimney on the left or under the rock face into the cave on the right (a good tip to give a first time climber). This climb isn't particularly memorable, but it makes a nice easy warm up ... more >>
