Comments: This thing is crimpy and hard with long reaches between crap holds. This boulder has so much on it and most of the problems are of high quality. Nice job Gary!!! You remain my hero.

Comments: The Pocket Problem is probably closer to V5 or 6...I'm not sure what I was thinking when I graded some of this stuff originally. As for the names, I'm not sure what they are called. I named them something but I have no idea who did them first.

Comments: Not to scale. The boulders are a bit further apart then they appear on this picture.

Comments: The start on this problem can be confusing. Start on the absolute lowest holds on the overhanging arete. If you start on the two holds higher this reduces the difficulty to around V5 or 6.

Comments: There is a great drop-knee/knee-bar right in the middle of this climb. Look for it FOOLS!!!

Comments: From what I have heard, Lean Years actually starts to the left of the direct line and climbs right along the vein into the linear portion of the climb. This is thought to be 5.11a and has a much better start than the direct version. The direct line does add a hard portion to this and it is thought to be 5.11d. On the crimpy side.

Comments: I count only 2 routes on this wall proper. There is a short route on a small formation just to the right and I think this is the route most people call the first route on this wall although technically it is not.

Comments: Shannon,

Dewell was the first to get the FA of Skypager and I think he graded it somewhere between V6 and 7.

Comments: Epic!!! 6 months of work with naked dudes keeping me warm. Props to Dan Dewell on the FA. From what I hear he went back there with Daniel Woods and Woods was stumped. From there DD preceded to no handedly campus the problem! Daniel was impressed

Comments: Byron-
You heard incorrectly. The "two drunks" I hired were actually steamy hot dudes with raging 12 packs glistening in the sun! I didn't hire them to "enhance (chip) all of the holds" as much as I hired them to keep me warm at the base of Little Monster where I lived projecting it for 6 months until a near success (I call it good). I did however bolt Little Monster because safety is always first.

Comments: I'd like to make a comment about a comment made by someone that will remain nameless. I don't believe it was necessary to call out specific details about a route pointing fingers, namelessly, at a local and old friend (apparently) when it was a fellow climber in the community that has put a lot of work into many areas in the Black Hills, specifically Spearfish Canyon. It sounds like you're trying to defend your precious climbing area and its locals to new folk by calling out one individual and b... more >>

Comments: I have no idea what this problem is called. I haven't actually been on it. A friend of mine did it, said he thought it was V7, and asked me to post it for him. Do you have any info on it.

Comments: I tried this thing once with Mike back when he had just bolted it. I agree. The chains should definitely be moved higher.
Great send!!!
