Comments: Love this route! A couple of the nuts were loose on the hangers under the roof yesterday. Didn't have a wrench handy, but I got 'em finger tight anyway.

Comments: Excellent, well protected route (bolts just where you want them). It's still getting "cleaned up," as there's still a fair bit of lichen/dirt/loose chips.

Comments: Great route! We noticed three or four freshly bolted routes on the back of the spire-like outcropping to the left of Diamonds and Rust... do we have to wait for Bob's book (come onnnnn Aug 4!) to learn about these, too?

Location: CO : Boulder : Upper Dream Canyon : Oceanic Wall : In Your Dreams (5.10c) By: Josh M. When: Jul 1, 2009 | view comment >> |
Comments: On the Oceanic Wall page, this route is listed "gear or TR," but here I see "Sport" and a recommendation for 10-12 QDs. Are there hangers/an anchor? Thanks!

Comments: Bechtel's guide has this as a 10b, so that's what i listed. Definitely felt a bit easier, though - maybe 10a or 10-.

Comments: Fun, if a bit awkward... climb up crack, traverse right to clip, back to crack, traverse right, repeat until face climbing.
Watch out for wasps nesting in the crack at the bottom!

Comments: Super fun slabby route. Crux is definitely through the first couple bolts. Have a good spotter for the first bolt!

Comments: Just returned from a nice week at Sinks. Nice temps, 60-70F with a nice breeze. One day of solid rain and occasional drops on the sunny days.
Indeed, the fire damage is pretty extensive (arson from Feb '09, I've read). But, new growth is coming in all over, which is nice.
With due respect to punkencrack, there are snakes in the canyon. But, there's no need to panic. We came across one prairie rattler on the approach trail - s/he just slid across the trail in the middle of our party, whi... more >>

Comments: What's the camping scene like here? Haven't checked the Uinta Rock guide, but is there any nearby? Parking? Thanks!

Comments: This is a beautiful picture, but why is it listed as a "BETA" photo under Clear Creek Canyon's page in Colorado??

Location: WY : Sinks Canyon : Camel Jockey : More Funky Than Gunky (5.9) By: Josh M. When: Sep 10, 2008 | view comment >> |
Comments: EMT: I was there in late Aug. Though I can't remember the precise location of the bolts under the roof, I don't recall any absurdly long run-outs.

Comments: The second Forest Service campground is fantastic. If you can, snag a site on the river side, and be treated to the beautiful and crystal-clear Popo Agie. There were no rattlers when we were wandering around, mid-late Aug.

Comments: The roof on this one feels great. It's well protected, but still big enough to make you feel like a rock star.

Location: WY : Sinks Canyon : Scud Area : Dog n' Dude (5.9+) By: Josh M. When: Sep 2, 2008 | view comment >> |
Comments: Just a heads up... Lander Sport Climbs (apparently the go-to guide for this area!) has the name of this route as "Doggin' Dude."

Comments: Very fun route! The last 15 feet get steep but are really exciting.

Location: WY : Sinks Canyon : Scud Area : Girls' Day Out (5.7) By: Josh M. When: Sep 2, 2008 | view comment >> |
Comments: Lander Sport Climbs (2007) calls this one a 5.6. Beware of loose gravel and some breakable rock on the way up (don't let that deter you, though!)
