Comments: Years ago Nathan Martin and I were the crazy kids who climbed to the rim. We toped out via the splitter above. The worst desert route of my life, vertical sand!

Comments: Great route! My favorite pitch was p2. Liked the style of the fixed pro by the FA party. Good rock and pro. Any trad climber should have a crack at this classic route.

Comments: Years ago Nathan Martin and I climbed to the rim starting with the route Pin Head. I highly recommend against climbing routes to the rim! The rock quality ranged from really bad to vertical sand, and with the potential of bombing somebody below.

Comments: You guys are thinking of the route left of this around the corner. We put in anchor, cleaned loose rock, blocks and a impassable bush out of this moderate. Regardless thanks for the info and hope you enjoyed this shorty.

Comments: I used these anchors less than 2 months ago and they where bomber, all bolts where tight and looked in good condition. I was on the tower well after summer rains/lighting strike potenial. Having placed many bolts in the desert this could be somebody screwing with the bolts. But I warn of to much talk/thread of such actions, sometimes it creates energy/motive by mentally off people to do disturbing vandalism when people give fuel to such actions. Moab area is lucky Sam came along to help preserve... more >>

Comments: This tech. of drilling, sounds a little strange to me. Maybe we (climbers) should consider not climbing in this style. I think we have moved forword from hard aid to free climbing being more important these days.

Comments: Dougald cool, sounds like you guys climbed to the right of pitch 1 and 2 of our route. Our pitch 1 was 5.9 A2 and now is 5.10+. With some traffic pitch 2 should clean up. The right side of the roof on pitch 2, the way Sam and I originally went, has a bolt and probably is 5.12. On our descent, we realized we would be able to free climb the left side of the roof easier. The left side is Aging Salesman's crux. Your route and our route share pitch 3, which has a cool 5.11 stem crux.
