Comments: I hear you Rhodes! This route is really good! Why is everyone afraid of chimneys? Don't bother with a rope if you lead this route.

Comments: After the last good piece (a bomb .5C4 around 40% up the route) I kept muttering to my belayer "holy cow this thing is intense!". Definitely a heady route. Although I was able to place plenty of gear, none of it was better than a 50% piece, and some much worse! I probably spent 30+ minutes on this route sussing out the gear and trying to summon the courage to move upward. On the upper slab I was able to sling 2 quartzite knobs and place a undercammed shallow #1 camelot, and a marginal @PO... more >>

Comments: Really fun route and good lead! Bomber small cams protect the crux. Although attentive belay is a must to keep a falling climber off the deck. We started in the crack using face holds where they existed. Steller layback moves lead to a distinct crux where the crack pinches down to a seam, a few bad feet and small crimps allow you to gain the jugular horizontal at 25ft. We stayed off the arete which may have added a number grade or so. Grade is probably somewhere in the 5.10 range.

Comments: This is a fun heady lead. No pro until the first horizontal at 18 feet, then two small cams in brittle rock get you through the next 10ft of face to the 2nd horizontal where bomber pro exists.
