Comments: Holy cow, that is a wild story. I'm glad you weren't hit. Did you yell out?

It was no doubt a crazy person. Just shooting a gun off without regard to where the bullets go is insane. A ricochet can be deadly, a bullet falling down from an upward shot can be deadly. If you find a bullet on the ground, maybe the gun can be identified and the person prosecuted. It would take some further investigation, but if it were me, I'd be pissed-off enough to start snooping around, trying to find the nut-case... more >>

Comments: About that block not killing anyone -- And nobody could possibly be more grateful than myself.

It was a wet day, and I had aided under and around that block. We fell together, but I was held by the bolt to the left. The piece underneath got mangled, but Darryl (who was belaying way off to the left) and I were also shocked that the rope wasn't cut.

Comments: Thanks Harrington for posting that picture.

Anyone who trusts their life, or just limbs, to a single bolt should take a good look at that picture.

Comments: Very nice map Ryan.

I don't recall seeing a toilet when I was up there two years ago (enroute to Spring Mt.). Is it new?

Comments: Thanks Casey, for the clarification.

Yes, exactly how one pops off is at least as important as the length and terrain of the fall. The two times I've been injured happened during unexpected falls.

At least it happened just as the weather turned colder and wetter. Time to hang out inside and write up one's memoirs...

I am psyched though to go try this route.

Comments: Dang, sorry to hear about the ankle Casey.

If another person were to blow off in the same spot, would the same fate await? Or can one place more gear?

Comments: Thanks.

I could remember the rock (very fun moderate slab route), but not the name. Selective memory!

Comments: I understood Stephen's comment to mean only that most Leavenworth climbing is different than this.

Is this route the 5.6 slab route put up by Darryl Cramer? The description sounds very similar to that route, but I thought he named it 'Family Style'.

Comments: Thanks Pawel. I took care of some of these issues. The issue with Black Market seemed unclear.

I agree, it would be better to add Der as a separate route.

Can you add that and 'Side Dish'?

Comments: Geoff, Rohan, or Rustin -

Feel free to add a description and bolt count for JD here in the comments and I'll update. Also, go ahead and add Side Dish as another route.

Thanks -

Comments: Thanks Matt for the bolt upgrade.

Also, it is nice to know that one can skip the 'intermediate' belay just below the headwall, and reach The Kone in two pitches. The photo in the description is quite helpful.

Did he do Ben's new direct start?

(Which is also a direct start to Black Flag.)

Comments: Hi Geoff.

I'm hoping that there's no meaning there. If so, then dang, it's down to one star...

Pearly Gates? Arg, not yet, unfortunately. It's now at the top of the L-worth list though...

Your description of the rock types just adds to the attraction - thanks.

Comments: Beautiful new viewpoint. I wish I was up there right now.

Also, one can see the tremendous moderate potential on that wall. Some great moss-clump trundles await the lucky explorer...
