Comments: Thanks Steph.
I was also perplexed by the metal thingy sticking out. (Not the biner in back.)

Comments: I have to wonder: is that really the FA guy's name, or is it just your way of saying that you "guess" it was Jeff?

Comments: Same thing happened to Nicola and I when we went up for the first time: Wrong trail going up, right one going down.

Thanks for posting the photo and description.

We have the space here to add some history, so why not?

The fist-sized cam was a #4 friend, which I think is smaller than the #4 camalot.

Comments: Sounds like the guy jumped from nearby.

Once I met a BASE jumper at the LTW parking lot. He went up to jump from the Upper Wall, but mentioned that some folks jump over the Orc Wall area (aka, the Quarry). It is even more dangerous there, but perhaps that is where the guy in the photo jumped from.

Yeah, it is a shock when you hear the chute open.

Comments: Usually they jump from the Upper Town Wall. But this appears to be the Lower Wall.

Where was the photo taken from?

Comments: Appears to be taken from the old firing range, just across the road from the common camping area.

This is a nice way to approach the Country Area and the Upper Wall.

Comments: Holy cow, it that solid brass?

It seems to blend in with the rock. As long as they don't spread much, it doesn't seem bad to have a unique anchor like that in some places.

Thanks Tom for the rebolting and cleaning on Good Girls, next time at the UTW I'd like to try the route.

Comments: I deleted comments that didn't seem helpful for the readers just wanting to find out about the route's qualities.

Sorry to take away from those who enjoyed the various arguments that were occurring here (yes, they were thoughtful and interesting), but it had gotten a bit long-winded and just didn't seem like the right place.

Perhaps the Pacific NW forum here on Mt. Proj. would be better for discussions about route changes and rebolting efforts at Index.

Comments: Bouldering, up to about 8-10 feet, requires no real instruction. It is just movement. Watch other boulderers, and if they look good and fluid (e.g., they use their lower body and legs well), then try to mimic their movement. Just don't let him get underneath any other climbers. Climbing is a natural movement. There are no special rules; just be careful and have fun.

Comments: Thanks Geoff.

The left side of Middle East Wall has such beautiful yellow rock, and the routes have some great stemming moves. So far, it's my favorite spot at Vantage.

I'll have to get a copy of the Yoder book.

I made your suggested change, but I do not have a description or instructions for getting to one versus the other. Can you add these details? You can post here, or use the "Improve this page" button.
