Comments: Just an FYI:

I was up there yesterday and we followed pretty large and fresh mountain lion tracks including a smaller set, that of her cub pretty much all the way to the base of the climb. If you are familiar with this area, it's obviously a great habitat for these animals to live. We did not see the cats, but we were on guard as they pretty much took the line of least resistance that we were following towards the climb. At one point, we encountered fresh excrement and a small hole they had dug... more >>

Comments: 12-17-10. Doing this route in winter conditions really does give this route full value!!! Looking for adventure, we left the topo at home, (other than driving directions) and headed to an area neither myself nor my partner had ever been to! We barely convinced ourselves to bring a second ice tool, which probably is not necessary if you stay on route.... It was classic alpine conditions, blowing snow, -10 wind chill, being on difficult terrain, off-route!!! Awesome. So we ended up going up a roc... more >>

Comments: So, sometime this summer, after climbing Left Wing a handful of times, I decided to replace the old green single piece of one-inch webbing with a rusty link at the top of climb with two new pieces of red one-inch webbing tied with water knots with 4" tails equipped with two links.... So, I was up there this weekend, and it looks like someone has cut out that anchor without replacing it, (not that it needed it at all).... This makes it really fun to get off this climb, even though fun is what cli... more >>

Comments: What a fantastic route!!! My partner and I thought it was a little sandbagged at 5.9, but I guess that's the black, or maybe it was just a lil' more run-out in spots without a #4!!! Haha! I ended up going through that black roof that Vince mentions on p5 after the 5.9 peg section, and it felt like I should have headed out right and belayed.... Either way it was full-value!!!

Comments: Either way, this bolt is much more inspiring than the pop-can aluminum hangers, or star-drives that I have seen in the past... Way to play it safe with the new bolts, making it more enjoyable for others!

Comments: Conditions as of Nov. 27th for Total abandon is pretty slim for the first pitch. Its like hardened snow with very little ice that is poorly bonded to the rock. I placed one screw on the first pitch, the rest rock gear. The second pitch had abundant ice as well as solid bonded ice in the chimney. The crux is thin as usual and had a nice deflated basketball size blob of ice on the wall for feet and is pretty manageable. The fixed nut is still there. We did it in 2 pitches with a 70m, placed 1 scre... more >>
