Comments: Actually unincorporated Clark County. Crimson Chrysalis top-out is in the foreground, Lake Mead is in the background. Send water, please.

Comments: First ascent 4/24/1982. "This route was named for an arrow head that was found on top of the first pitch." From Joanne Urioste's Red Book Supplement.

Birdhunter Buttress is in such an outstanding location and the adventure aspect is truly sublime. We pitched out the climb as recommended above by Doug Hemken. This turns the 12+ pitch climb into a more reasonable 7 pitches. The effort performed by the rebolting crew on the first three pitches was appreciated greatly. Pitches 4, 5, and 6 still spo... more >>

Comments: This is the top pitch of Cat in the Hat and it goes at 5.7 to a two-bolt rap anchor. From the anchor it's about a 300 foot scramble to the summit cairn.

Comments: Okay, Gigi and I summited via this route and it was awesome. Highly recommended. I posted the beta pictures for the full route, we climbed it in 11 pitches. I preserved the pitch numbering as listed in the Handren guide, but like everyone else we linked P1 and 2. So, nine pitches to the north shoulder and then two more up broken rock to the summit. And by the way, there is no mention of the final pitches being 3rd class in the Handren book - the final headwall is definitely fifth class - easy bu... more >>

Comments: These pitches were the only bad ones on the route. In fact, I half expected to encounter a pack of feral dogs and a elephant burial ground or something...

Comments: This photo was taken 8/10/09, the first day with climbable weather after a 48-hour storm. The chimney, which faces away from the morning sun, was very cold and icy.

Comments: Great route.

If I climb this route again, I'd refrain from linking pitches 3 and 4. The 180 foot link-up is a little zig-zaggy and care must be taken not to run the rope through bushes. We had a lot of rope drag.

The crux was awesome, and pretty tricky. TCUs below the moves work okay but the Ballnutz really helped mid-way through the crux.
