Comments: This area actually has a ton of routes not listed here. Check out Squeezing the Lemmon II for more information. Also, a little tip about finding the right trail...you should be moving west along the south edge of the lake. Make sure you go past the dam. There is another well defined trail right before the dam that can lead you astray. This area is not heavily used and has 30 routes mostly 5.10 and up, but a few below that.

Comments: HEADS UPS! This comment is spot on:

"On the directions to Jack's Canyon, the pull off for the gate is milepost 313.7 as noted on the map. But because the mileposts from Winslow are descending (starting at about 343), the directions should read:
'Continue south on Highway 87 for roughly 30 miles to mile marker 314

0.3 miles past this you will see a pull off to the right with a gate, turn right.'

Traveling south on Hwy 87 to mile marker 313 takes you .7 miles past the turnoff."

Comments: This route is well protected - excellent bolt placement and some fun climbing on the first 30-40 feet. Gets much easier up top.

Comments: Parts of this are run out. The climbing on those parts are 5.7 type stuff, but if you slip, it could be a big drop and clipping a ledge is a definite possibility.

Comments: Agree about the crux at 3rd bolt. This is a fun route. In fact, the whole area is one of my favorites.

Comments: The third bolt up on this seems loose. The eye to clip into spins, maybe OK, but an experienced eye should have a look.

Regarding the rating on this climb, I think it really depends on your height. The crux is a bulge at the fourth bolt. If you're 6 feet or over, you can reach over this bulge for a good hand hold and the climb is a 5.7. The two shorter people in our group had trouble because the body position at the bulge is awkward and there wasn't much for them as far as hand holds.... more >>
