Comments: Maybe I missed something, but I thought this was stiff for 5.10.

Comments: Ledges detract some, but the climbing was really fun. Steep and juggy.

Comments: John,
Havens is in the book under Inspiration Point The Havens. You'd have to ask Eric why he chose to list it this way.

Comments: I really like this route. The moves are continuous, technical, and varied for the first 5 bolts.

Comments: Joe Kreidel & I went out to the Shed today and weather was great. Strange May here in Tucson. Anyhow it seems that a pair of Ravens are nesting at the top on the right hand side. We stayed on the left, but they were still quite bothered. Maybe they nest there every year. Until this year it has always been too hot to climb there in May. Also saw a small wasp nest between Don't Ask and Don't Tell with a coupe of wasps present.

Comments: John,
Thanks for the kudos. If you clipped the bolts you were on route. As stated in the route description, the start of Infrared Heart does share some of the same moves as Corner Exit. This was done because the straight-up start would have had a few extremely hard moves inconsistent with the long 5.11 rest of the climb. As to the route squeezing, we wanted to put up as many fun climbs as we could, and as a result the routes are close to one another. I understand some may not like this. Just a m... more >>

Comments: Jerry, I'm a little confused on your comment. Are you saying that difficulty grades are subjective and danger grades are objective? It seems to me that both are subjective and if there is a difference that difficulty grades might be more objective. If I look at a climb on MP that has been rated by at least 25 people I usually find that about 90% of them rate the climb within one letter grade of the consensus, while the danger ratings (i.e. no rating, PG13, R, & X ratings) can be all over the pla... more >>

Comments: This one is challenging. Like a 25' boulder problem. May be hard to rate as a route. Will seem easier for those who boulder a lot and very difficult for those who don't.

Comments: Joe Kreidel and I did this route and as John mentioned couldn't find anchors. It felt harder than 11 to me. It had a hard, short, and crimpy start. The climbing above was interesting, but more like 12a in my opinion. Would be a pretty good route with anchors. Are they there and we couldn't find them?

Comments: A very interesting climb with a variety of different types of climbing. Might be a 4 star if not for the rock quality on the top section (which if you can ignore provides super fun moves).

Comments: This one is really good! climbing is interesting and quite varied. Crux seemed to be hard 11, but it took a while to find the needed hold, so maybe just mid 11 on redpoint. A strong 3 stars for this one.

Comments: crux seemed to be 10+ or 11-, but just a short section. Most of the climb was significantly easier but really fun climbing.

Comments: Really good route, but probably not the best at the steep. I suspect John would now agree that "Stepping into Blue Sky" is better (****). I also believe that several other routes at the Steep are of similar great quality to this route (Spiderman, Cres-sent, George of the Jungle, Two Birds).

Comments: Actually I believe that Tony Lusk did the first ascent of this route. As he told it to me, he stole the red-tagged route while Strassman was in Europe, hence the name. Afterwards he was sorry that he had done that.

Comments: John,
Glen Todd did the FA on this with Tony belaying him. Route is fun after first 2 bolts, each of which should be one foot higher in order to make the route safer and more fun through the crumbly rock section.
