More information:
I am a guide with Alpine Endeavors. I live on the west side of the Shawangunk Ridge, just a few miles from the West Trapps parking area.
I started climbing in CT in 1984. My folk's house is close to Pinnacle Rock, Ragged Mt. and a number of other small crags. CT was a great place to get turned on to climbing because there is such a long history of climbing there and even then had a well developed community with lots of experienced climbers around. The routes in CT tend to be hard for their grades and tough to protect on lead and the group I came up around had a clear ethic about leading things on sight as always being the goal. Every time I toprope one of these 5.10's that we were leading when we were kids I am blown away at the difficult and daring nature of the climbs.
I moved to New York four years ago after living in Boulder, CO for ten years. We live in a great spot with some of the sweetest rock anywhere but I miss Boulder, it's too bad that we can only be in one place at one time. |
