Comments: Thanks, Luke. That cleared all my confusion. Except I didn't actually climb Private Viewing, we climbed Opening Night. I'll try Private Viewing next time, it looked unique and fun as well.

Great job on those routes, Dark Tower and Riddle look stellar - and HARD. Thanks for bringing some attention back to this sweet spot.

Comments: Made my first trip to this spot, it's beautiful wall! I was a little confused by a couple of lines, not really having good info at my fingertips at the crag.

Do Riddle of Steel and Breaking Away share much of their climbing (i.e., is Riddle an alternate finish?) Maybe I didn't look close enough, but I didn't see four bolt lines.

After the second to last bolt on Pucker Up, do you head right toward the crack/flake system? I went left (I think onto Breaking Away?) and then did a rightward trave... more >>

Comments: I left a leaver biner about halfway up this route for clipping into as you lower. This helps avoid a nasty swing after you unclip all the draws. I'm not sure if this route gets enough traffic to justify a permadraw in that spot, but I have one I am happy to add next time I'm up there.

Comments: I wish this crag had more routes just so we could get more hilarious jbak route names out of it.

Comments: Those must be relatively new. I never made it out there last winter, but those signs weren't posted previous years. If these are posted close to the parking area suggested, there may be another way to access the area further south. It would add a few extra minutes to the already long approach. I'll look into an alternative.

Comments: With beta and chalked up holds, felt like 12b to me. Not to take away from anyone else's proud send, but to encourage others to not be intimidated by the grade - for me Windy Point 12+ is usually one of those grades I'm leery of. It's a fun route, and a lot different than the other 12s around it. Great movement on a variety of side pulls, arete slapping and more.

Comments: Excellent movement and rock for the entire climb, with the crux at the very end. If it was 15-20 feet taller it would a 4 star classic for sure.

Comments: Maybe my favorite technical climb on the mountain. Makes you earn every move, and you never feel too confident in the moves ahead.

Comments: The moves we felt warranted a 10a rating were the last 15 feet or so of the route, face climbing above the crack to the anchors. Maybe you found an easier path than we did, as frequently happens with new climbs.

I'm glad to hear people are getting out here, and appreciate all the input and feedback.

Comments: Nice job sending it with gear! Did you top out at our anchors, or stay left where it was more featured?

Comments: Above the last bolt, the climbing seemed to stay in a water groove trending left. If you anchored above the water groove at the ledge, I think there would be a lot of friction on the rope when lowering. So the last bolt is probably a good spot to end the climb.

The crux is right off the ledge about 25 feet up, watch those ankles.

Comments: Unless lots of people disagree, I don't think the bolts need to be moved. Canada Eric clipped all bolts just fine with his beta, so it is safe to climb that way, and I don't like the idea of moving them left to force people to stay left.

Glad you guys enjoyed the route!

Comments: I was curious to find out if someone would find a path up the far right slab/crack feature. I am a sucker for arĂȘtes, so it never felt contrived for me to stay on the arĂȘte.

I'll adjust the grade, and try your beta when I'm out there next.

Comments: One bonus about this area is that one side faces due east, one side due west, making it very easy to chase sun/shade.

One safety note - last fall I attempted the route labeled South Rib on jbak's topo. The route was very good, but I never found the anchors. I climbed way above the last bolt, but down climbed back to the bolt. Maybe I missed the anchors, or maybe they have been added, but just a heads up.

Comments: I have no info on the FA, other than the assumption that Bob Murray probably climbed it back in the day. Rain Chaser sounds like a perfect name to bestow upon it!

Comments: I've climbed this, and I'm sure it's been climbed long before that. Fun problem to try after you've sent Leaning Crack, although I thought it was a couple grades harder than v3.

Comments: On the second pitch of Inner Passage, which is the first route (I think...) you come to when you descend the east side of The Fortress. The tunnel section is on the second pitch. Overall, it's not a great climb, but a pretty cool experience.

Comments: jbak's linkup between Before Limitations and Days so the New is a very good endurance challenge, with good movement and several cruxy sections. A little bit of hollow rock detracts from the overall quality, but definitely one of the better 12a's I've done on the lower part of the mountain. You will need 19 draws for this one.

Comments: Elegant edging leads to a high crux and a powerful finish. Definitely a Tucson classic for the grade - as good as Tsunami or Sentenced (if you can overlook the glue...).

Comments: Not as good as Something Else, but probably a letter grade harder for me. After using the sharp sidepull at the beginning, I found a sequence that avoided some of the other painful crimps, so it isn't too bad.
