Comments: Climbed this on Oct 21, 2012 and saw no evidence of bees.

A great climb with lots of variety and some thoughtful moves. I did not bring the #4, but wish I would have, as the move onto the left face felt pretty committing with out it.

Comments: When I was at this boulder, we downclimbed the tall slab on the backside (probably a 30 ft 5.9 funky downclimb). It was kinda sketchy, so downclimbing and jumping from the problems is probably the best option.

Comments: Start standing on the boulder at the base, and there are a few small crimps to choose from. The hardest part is getting established on the boulder and making the first move left to a decent crimp. As you climb up, the holds get progressively better.

Comments: Looks like a cool problem. I've seen some cool pics of this place, is South Mtn worth a drive up from Tucson?

Comments: Hopefully they end up back here, they are a really cool couple. Then we can con them into babysitting some more.

Comments: I'm not sure what the rules and regulations for camping or accessing the canyon, but I thought I would throw out this heads up to other out-of-towners. I camped at Kelly Canyon last Thursday night (5/10) with no problems. Bouldered at Kelly Friday morning, then went to the Draw for the afternoon. Exhausted from a good day of bouldering, I grabbed a slice of pizza in town and drove back to Kelly. The forest road was closed, gates locked. I had to hike in, take down camp and hike back out to the h... more >>

Comments: Isn't it against park policy to climb the boulders? It has been a while since I've been there (and been tempted), but I remember the signs and maps discouraging climbing on the nature trail.

That said, there is good bouldering not too far from there...

Comments: If we are thinking of the same spot, it is easily passable. Where the canyon makes the sharp turn, you need to do an easy scramble onto the rocky ledge up and left, out of the streambed. From there you walk about 20 yards up and around, and you are at the base of Ms. Demeanor and those climbs, and right across from Armed Robbery, etc.

Comments: I was recently shown the beta for an old Murray traverse in the Javelina Cave. There are two versions, both starting on the far right and ending on the far left. The upper traverse is fairly difficult probably v8ish. The lower traverse eliminates some of the better holds from the upper traverse, which forces you into some pretty unique and difficult moves - including a pretty heinous serious of campus moves. This variation is AT LEAST v10, probably 12ish, but I really can't say. It is almost cer... more >>

Comments: Doing the dyno is easier for me as well. The first time I ever tried the crimp problem, I had to resist the urge to dyno, so using the crimps feels more contrived than just jumping. But as someone who loves dynos, this is one of the better ones I've done around town.

As far as giving it a separate name, I don't know. Given Silverbells long history of contrivances, eliminates and variations, it seems to make some sense. If nothing else it opens up peoples mind to the possibility of a big dyno, ... more >>

Comments: The piton, which is the first piece of pro, is about 18 feet high, and the landing is pretty poor. It is possible to climb the ledge on the right and stick clip the pin. At least that's what I hear....

Comments: If this topped out a the mini-ledge, it would be a three star boulder problem. Some really great moves down low, but the fun ends way too early.

Comments: I pulled a huge block off this route last week. Setting up for the crux on the second bulge, there was a left hand jug on the arete. This whole thing came off, making the crux a touch harder. There be a hold hiding behind all the dirt where the block was, but I didn't have a brush to excavate.
