"If you are going through hell, keep going." Winston Churchill

Wisconsin born and raised. Southwestern DLFA ambassador. Though I certainly don't party like I used too.

I have been living in Northern Arizona for most of my adult life, and Flagstaff for the last 13 years. The open lands we are surrounded by here are so varied and intriguing that I routinely feel blessed to call this place home.

As ever focused on new routes, whether they are trad, sport, or on the boulders. For me, it is the whole process of creating what is essentially a giant work of art. Finding the lines, cleaning them, piecing the moves together, and firing them off is a lot of work, but this effort also instills in me a sense of complete satisfaction that I rarely find in other endeavors. After an FA, it always feels as if the crag and I have swapped something. Some fundamental essence at the quantum level has been traded, and I fall a little deeper in love.

Thanks to all the inspiring friends, and partners I have had throughout the last twenty years who have helped me stay on the track towards beauty and adventure. Here is to another twenty!

As far as being an Admin here on Mountain Project, all I am trying to do is help. When Northern Arizona started popping up on MP, I thought there should be some sort of local representation, because a lot of the original info was being posted by non locals. Which is fine, I just wanted to be able to make appropriate changes to the information and sort out the areas the way we know them. These days, I am a firm believer that good public information helps spread climbers out, and alleviate overcrowding. People are going to climb where they know there are routes they can do. That said, there are certainly areas I don't think need to be on MP because of any number of variables which could directly impact access. The public face of climbing is changing quickly and dramatically, and there is no going back. Moving towards the future, really, all I want to do here on Mountain Project is to keep the info straight as best I can (cause there is a ton of it!!), get others motivated to enhance the available local history, and to help locals and visitors alike, explore the rich diversity of climbing we are so blessed to have here in Northern Arizona.

Found this cool shot of Mt. Elden online. Furthest right piece of rock is the Red Dragon. To the left of that is the Devil's Chair. The canyon in the center is Solitude, then Oaklands, and finally the upper portions of West Elden.  Topo.  Jess L. making her way towards Lord Humungous.   No Utopia.  Topo
