I've been climbing since 1993 sporadically. I was the guy who brought new blood out to the crags and set up the tr and coached them thro it, the the next thing ya know, they move to Boulder... Most of those guys don't climb much anymore, pity.
My son is now looking to go to college so my commitments to being intimately involved with his life have wained. We have a great relationship, we've done a lot together, mostly through the BSA, a great organization, by the way. He's an Eagle Scout with 3 Palms- not too many of them around. Point is, our investment of personal time has paid off big time! I couldn't be more proud.
Since I've had more me time, say since '05, I have been able to call myself a climber. I hooked up with a great bunch of climbers in CT (www.ctclimbers.com) and have really started to learn to climb. We travel frequently to the Gunks, Daks and NH. Now I have friends who climb and I can learn from them. A nice change indeed! I am planning on Yosemite this September ('08) and am faithfully training; a big fan of being prepared! |
