Comments: I only helped "Fix" this route. Kevin Ormerod did all the work, and I'd say he did more than "fix" it. As far as i know this route had been listed as unfinished. Kevin led up through the crux(where the route had previously ended) past the last bolt and finished this climb, with a 2 bolt anchor, at the obvious ledge above. He also relocated all but one of the original bolts. The finished route is: Chaturanga 5.12a

Comments: The crux on this route seems to be finger size dependent. If your mits are small and thin it may feel a bit easier for you. If you have sausage link fingers it may be harder.

Comments: This area is known as the John Dunn Bridge Area In Taos Rock (http://www.climbingschoolusa.com/) and John's Wall / River Wall in Rock Climbing NM. These cliffs can be very pleasant in the winter months. John's Wall gets the sun late morning into the early afternoon. The Solar Asylum and New Buffalo Wall are warm in the afternoon and receive the last rays of evening sunshine. The River Wall has not seen much traffic in recent years and seems to have been taken over by the flora and fauna and has b... more >>

Comments: Correct George. I climbed the FA of this route without steming, climbing directissima staying left of the bolts circa 1993. I thought the bouldery start to this variation was about 11c. I was searching for harder steeper shaded routes in TP at the time. The second time I led it I realized you could stem and zig zag between bolts at about 5.10a and felt a bit silly for not seeing it the first time. Funny how we only see what we are looking for sometimes.

Comments: Limited access has been arranged through Mountain Skills Climbing Guides. This is a foot in the door for a tricky access situation. I have been working on this for over 5 years now. They are currently allowing limited guided trips with Mountain Skills only.

Comments: What are the Chances??? I climbed the FA of the 5.11 bolted route and the crack to the right 15 years ago or so. Also on July 4th!! Hence the name Dependence(bolted) and Independence(crack).I think John Pancost among others had previously climbed the blunt arete to the left of these two routes.

Comments: My five year old Milan wanted to leave her new Barbie here in exchange for the small figurine this summer. She was excited to see Barbie Cranking this move! Barbie has since moved up and down the route and seems to have found her way to the big hole at the first bolt now. Thanks for the pic. I will show it to Milan

Comments: This one was first climbed on Halloween day 1997 by myself and Mike Freeborn. Because of the great finish combined with a less than perfect mid section we called it: Trick Or Treat?

Comments: Not true Mike! This area was very much Mike and Bob's vision and hard work. I was handed a route or two on a silver platter. Matt, glad to see you've been back in the 505/575. Let's hook up soon.
