Comments: There are just over 25 completed routes now at this little crag. 5.9-5.12a. All the Beta is not in print yet, but the routes are short, easy to spot and pretty straight forward.

Comments: Matt Bogar and I have done several routes and boulder problems at the mouth of the canyon near Penasco. A bit obscure but good rock.

Comments: The top half of this route gets a bit dirty & dusty after heavy rain but seems to stay clean if it gets brushed after the rain. It has also been confirmed now at 11+, and is actually one of the better "warm ups" for the cave routes.

Comments: I think the crux is pulling the lip of the FIRST roof, which now has a fixed chain.

Comments: With the addition of Bill Sprague's new foot beta and a knee bar rest before and after the crux this climb is now confirmed at 12a/b! Also, the heinous "cutter" hold it would seem broke on its left edge. It is now less positive but no more pain!! I think this and the new "foot beta" make this route much more enjoyable!

Comments: Eric...It is in the climbing area and mentioned in the Taos Rock book. Check out page 146 in Taos Rock and look for The Finns this is the location of Mean Leaner. There are several other great steep problems climbers left of Mean Lnr. These had not yet been developed at press time hence the lack of beta in the book. They are however high quality problems. HAVE FUN!

Comments: Thanks Craig. Dennis was laid to rest in Taos and had a memorial at The St Francis Church in Ranchos De Taos at the same time we were putting up these routes this past memorial day. He has had a presence on and off in Taos since his first trip here for the filming of Easy Rider. RIP

Comments: Donna and I originally climbed this route to the top and walked off. The final head wall above new anchor makes for a couple more good moves and the belay at the top was a nice way to finish. Not sure who placed the anchor but we used it this weekend and it seemed OK.

Comments: We never really named this route so I just gave it a random name So it would not be listed as an Unnamed. A fun challenging lead.

Comments: It's possible to get two pieces of pro before the first bolt (small cam then a medium stopper) and two before the second I usually place a number one (red) BD Camalot in the small right facing dihedral after the first bolt. Also the fixed pin is five inches long and still in good shape.
