Comments: A quick take on this from someone who has been a mountain search & rescue volunteer for over 8 years (ie. me):

We go on missions when requested to by the local sheriff's department. We go because we're called, and we don't decide on an individual basis if the mission is "worth it" or not. We rescue idiots and liars with the same effort and professionalism with which we rescue people who just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. We don't judge (well, maybe we do after the fact), we... more >>

Comments: Yeah, I'd have to agree - the new R&I gear issue is a waste, unless your idea of useful info is having a compendium of selected gear manufacturer's spec's all in one place. Nothing new, no reviews, ho hum, snooooooooze-a-rama. And yeah, pretty poor cover shot as well. I'm thinking more and more about popping for that Alpinist subscription I've wanted for a while now...

Comments: Did this route this morning (called in sick to work hehehe...) Great new addition to Little Eiger. Fun, clean, and long (just how I like my women...). Easy until you get to the roof (which is not that hard) and then quite sustained for the duration. Very well bolted. Thanks Thor!

Comments: Another fun long-ish Mabe route (yeah, I climb some with Darren but I'm not his butt-boy, nor he mine, no matter what he tells ya!). I thought it was more .10a/b when I first lead it, but I TR'd it last night and all the holds are big and right there, so yeah, 9+ seems about right.

Comments: Yup, what Darren said. Great route, fun climbing all the way, I thought fairly easy for a .9 but not over-bolted, some spicey almost run-outs on the easier sections. Bolts are brand new and placed with either loving care or extreme obsessiveness - take your pick!
