Comments: Great route, not too difficult. 12 bolts to a Fixe anchor with clips. My friend who hasn't climbed much before top roped it with tennis shoes and only needed to weight the rope once. No power needed.

Climbed Saturday 7/28/12. We were the only ones on the face, so much for it being the "Cattle Route." That said, nearly the entire climb was soaking wet from the massive rain the night before. I think we were off route on the crux pitch till the very end and ended up resting on gear a bit. Still, it was a great day!

Climbed yesterday in 12.5 h c2c. Left the trail head at 3 (we had to drive back to Texas that day) and started climbing a few minutes before 7. We had a quick pace until we reached the gash and got off route in the darkness causing our scramble up the talus to be unnecessarily brutal.

Comments: Climbed 6/2/12. Route is in great condition and the approach is dry enough that you don't really need traction or trekking poles as the NPS website suggests. Left the trailhead at 3:30 and summited in 5 pitches at 11 just before some thunder rolled in making for an exciting descent.

Comments: I think George is correct, although when we did it we went around to the left like the photo. The climbing was mostly stemming and pretty easy.

Comments: Climbed here yesterday. Does anyone know what the bolted route just right of Roadside Distraction is? All hangers are spray painted black, and the climb seemed like a good 5.11.

Comments: First trad lead many years ago. I remember being so scared that I placed a piece every 2ft or so. I did it last year and placed maybe 4-5 pieces.

Comments: I believe the Lighthouse was first climbed in 1960 by Derrell Chandler and Geary McCaule before it was part of the state park.

Comments: When we did this we continued past the belay and scrambled around to a big 5.6 crack (To the right of the crack there is some bolted route) and followed it to the Larry's Folly anchors where we met the other climbers of our group and were able to use both of our ropes to get down.
