Comments: This picture is wonderful!

Is that the Crags Hotel on the skyline beneath the tightrope walker?

Comments: Bob: Yes, Annette and I went up there yesterday morning to check it out. Unfortunately, we took the most unpleasant path to get there, I think. We crossed the creek at the Sleeping Beauty buttress, wound our way around the bottom of the Beer Can, passed Gomer Pyle, and then scrambled directly up and right (through the dirt and over the slabs) directly to the right edge of wall. Thankfully, on the way down we found the proper approach gully, took that to the creek, and just waded across -- mu... more >>

Comments: Great moves in the middle section of the climb, especially getting onto the arete.

Comments: Thanks for the new routes, Kirk. This is a great addition to CCC.

The area is already quite popular; at one point this morning there were 17 people, 1 rat, and 1 rattlesnake at the base!

Comments: Sara:

My partner Annette and I climbed this yesterday and finished similar to what you describe. After pulling up through the little roof, though, I wasn't entirely sure where to go, so I went sharply left for 10' or so, and got to a little left facing corner/flake. I climbed up this, then went back right to get to the base of the slab you're talking about. I flipped the rope around the corner/flake so that it ran directly up from the little roof to the slab, and Annette could follow the rop... more >>

Comments: We didn't like the looks of the cable/rap anchor, so we continued up to the top of the crag. By heading up and left from the cable we got to a decent chimney with clean and solid rock in the back of it. Easy climbing on that second pitch, but there aren't a lot of chimney pitches in Boulder Canyon, so it was a nice surprise. (Perhaps this is the upper pitch of the West Face?)

Comments: There's a big block perched on the second pitch belay ledge. Be careful.

Comments: With the Buried Alive finish, this climb packs a nice variety of climbing into the three pitches.

Comments: This is a nice climb with distinct and varied cruxes on each of the three pitches.

Comments: As of 12/22/04, the sleeve on the left bolt of the anchor is partially exposed, and the hanger spins.

Comments: The approach can be a little confusing the first time. The route itself is fun, with quality rock, but felt easier than 5.8.

Comments: The crux comes right off the ground, getting past the first bolt. After that it's a relatively easy cruise.

Comments: Some of the nuts on the coldshuts are loose (including the left shut at the p1 anchor), so be prepared to hand-tighten them as you go.

Comments: One of of the key crux holds (towards the left) stays wet late into the morning after an overnight rain. Thankfully, the hold is so big that the water isn't a significant issue.

Comments: One of the loose blocks George is likely referring to is a two-foot spike/tooth of rock that's about two feet to the right of the last bolt on pitch 1; it flexes quite a lot.
