Comments: An unpleasant, uninteresting, ill-conceived route with uniquely bad protection placement. The 5.6 finish has no redundancy for the abseil/belay (not to mention it is fixed to a tree), and the 5.8 extension adds nothing to the route while creating a dangerous, rope-obstructed lead fall on the move to the anchors. On a dry day when the adjacent route is available (Flying Dutchman 5.5), new climbers should work on that instead. If you're warming up for the hard stuff to the right, use Firefly (5.8)... more >>

Location: PA : Breakneck : Main Wall : (10) Grab Your Balls (5.9)

Comments: A steady 5.7 climb sandwiched by two legit 5.9 cruxes, one at the bottom (from the ground) and one at the anchors. The ground start is particularly vulnerable to a sketchy PG13+ landing (more than a pad can cover), especially on lead without a stick-clipped first bolt, so people seem to skip it and come at it from the right instead. The hardest stretch is that portion coming up the face from the ground to the first clip, so it's probably a 5.9- (mostly 5.7ish climbing) without it.

Comments: While this route, like its next-door neighbor (Touch of Green, 5.6), is not especially interesting to climb, the view from the anchors is the best at Breakneck. (And they're the only ones that get consistent sun!) Oh, and the evenly dispersed array of small pockets make Cannabis, like Eclipse (5.6), a less height-dependent route than most of the problems on the Main & Right walls and thus a similarly good choice for a first lead attempt by novice sport climbers (especially on a busy day when the... more >>

Location: PA : Breakneck : Lower Slab : (14) Touch of Green (5.5)

Comments: 5.6 seems a fair rating, as this route is no easier than Eclipse (5.6) and distinctly more technical (benefitting from a backstep here, a gaston there, etc.) than the adjacent 5.5 (which, like Eclipse, enjoys a few no-hands rests). While neither of these lower routes are particularly exciting climbs, the view from the anchors is the best at Breakneck. (And they're the only two that get consistent sun!)
