Comments: A great thinker of a route that stays solid at the grade until the last two bolts. Highly recommended.

Comments: Peter:

The drive is approximately 2 hours from Phoenix. The dirt access road requires 20 minutes. Hence it can be done as a day trip but a weekend is more enjoyable.

Only a small portion of the road requires a 4x4 but this section was getting noticeably worse in the spring. An alternative is to hike or bike in.

You can chase sun or shade all day so you can climb all but the hottest days of the year.

Comments: Like a boss!

Careful not to step behind the rope. If you fall and your foot catches you can flip upside down.

Comments: I bypassed the brutal crimps by venturing left to the undercling after the forth bolt. Definitely easier but perhaps not in the spirit of the route?

Comments: This climb is between 'Stepping Into Blue Sky' and 'Mini-Me'. Other than a few bolting issues (ground fall potential getting to the second bolt and drag from the chains), I thought it was a lot of fun.

Comments: I've been mulling over whether this route can be led on gear. I believe it might be possible.

Sling tooth (~2nd Bolt)
Cam in pocket (~4th Bolt)
Cam in flake (~6th Bolt)
Cam in flake undercling and/or nut in eye pocket (~8th bolt)
Cam and/or nut in deep crack (~9th bolt)
Nut from redpoint crux (~10th bolt)

The start is the most questionable part. The tooth might not be deep enough and a fall before the second piece might result in a ground fall. Still I think it might be po... more >>

Comments: This is representative of the multi-pitch routes on the Fortress: featured granite and run-outs on easier terrain. Fun!

Comments: 3rd route right of the tree means 4th route on the wall.

I bypassed the direct finish by climbing the gully to the left of the head wall, which significantly lowers the grade.

The stemming in the middle is great fun.

Comments: If memories serves there are three bolted lines in the corner upstream from 'Stick It'. 'Bro Job' is the leftmost line and on the left face. The mussy hooks can be seen from the ground. I suspect you climbed the right face that ends with a small crack. I believe this route is harder but I have not been on it.

Comments: Assuming we climbed the correct line this route is approximately 6 bolts and 60ft.

Comments: An absolutely fabulous route. Three scoops followed by excellent patina edges makes for a unique, classic route. In my opinion this route is better than Mulva but both are not to be missed.

I would recommend stick clipping the first bolt as the starting moves are tricky and the rock seeps.

Comments: As a 6'0" climber I came away convinced that this route favors shorter, flexible climbers. My left leg dangled uselessly during the crux as I was unable to place it above the roof. I am relieved to have finally sent this mini-project.

Comments: In my opinion no stick clip is necessary, two of the holds were drilled and it is slightly soft for the 5.12a grade. Nevertheless I enjoyed playing around on it.
