Comments: Thanks for the input Charles. I only saw the East Face of Branching Out so the rest is really a mystery. Updated.

Comments: I am torn as to whether this route should have ended a bolt lower. The final sequence, while nice, is completely out of character with the rest of the climb.

Comments: After flailing at the corner I ended up staying right of the bolt at the ledge, a variation from the photo.

Comments: Has anyone climbed Obskewered (5.8, gear) since the fire ten years ago? The rock is exfoliating and the line seems sketchy and difficult. I bailed.

Comments: The optional piece is either a nut or small cam around the size of a C3 #0 or #1. The runout terrain is significantly easier than surrounding terrain so you are only protecting for the unexpected. While not the greatest route, I enjoyed it.

Comments: I actually found it to have three tricky sections, each separated by a rest. The lower roof is the physical crux while the upper two cruxes are technical. I felt elongated on some of the moves so it might be harder for short people.

Comments: A 60m rope is sufficient for this really nice route. Careful pulling your rope as we dislodged fist-sized rocks from the ledge.

Comments: An amazing route with a bit of everything. Between bolts 3 and 4 I wandered far right. Where Kick in the Nuts encroaches on Scuzzlebutt I veered left; here clipping the right bolt was awkward and the left bolt resulted in terrible rope drag so I opted for neither. A couple of longer slings are handy to reduce drag.

Comments: I definitely recommend bringing slings, nuts, and a couple of cams to .75. While all the hard climbing is bolt protected, the significant runouts can be alleviated with gear. P1: 80ft (Bolts, Chains) P2: 140ft (Bolts, Slings, Chains) P3: 180ft (Bolts, Gear, Chains) 4th/5th class to summit: 130ft Pitch 1 was my favorite as the opening moves were wild and pretty unique.

Comments: What is the first route encountered? The route to the left of April O'Neal. Seemed harder but on lesser rock than April O'Neal. The bolting at the start is odd and very tight. We had fun on the two routes we did before getting rained out.

Comments: Up until a few years ago there was a piton at the roof prior to the first bolt. I've climbed it both with and without the piton and believe that despite the gear being adequate it ups the commitment level. I tend to start slightly to the left, place gear in the obvious weakness in the roof, and then move to the right where the slab is less blank. Never seen anyone else do it so there may be a better way. Hope this helps.

Comments: It actually isn't too bad as New Wave Wall is in the shade until 2pm (and apparently again at 4pm). At which point the rest of Windy Point starts going into the shade. I was getting tired of driving all the way up the mountain, getting a warm-up climb in, and getting rained out.

Comments: But option #3 refers mentions clipping a bolt. I don't think there are any bolts on Quick Death. I was 6 feet or so left of the bolt in a different crack system. The diagram in STL2 is indeed confusing for the slew of climbs right there. I guess it doesn't matter too much as the climbing is all pretty fun.
