Comments: Woe to the MP user that posts a boulder problem with an R rating for anything other than something that will likely result in a death fall. Also everything is easier than everyone else says!!!

Comments: Not so rad since the big crimp broke off on the face, and this is now a micro crimp.

Comments: cool twisting sit start, with long moves to good holds. and your balance is just off enough to feel uncomfortable. really great problem. kinda tough to pad really safely though. tall, and like all the other moby dick area problems, the ground slopes away pretty seriously.

Comments: As long as everyone is afraid to be the first to say that it's 14a now (same with post-break dead souls), it will always be considered 14a in everyone's minds, but we will keep saying 13d to each other.
Jens always talked about the "brave downgrader" - it takes a lot more guts to upgrade. Cue the guy who pipes in to say "it isn't that hard":

Comments: How has nobody responded to Zoso's comment above? It's ok to steal draws off a route someone is projecting? Incorrect.

Comments: I had just flashed Grimace, and I was pretty damn happy about it. And while I was sitting on the top of it, feeling pretty good about myself, some dude was like, "Well, if you think you're such a badass, why don't you go and flash Spanky? That one's actually hard." So I went and did that.

He wasn't there to see it, so I just did a dorky little silent "haha!" fist pump at the top by myself. I might not have otherwise flashed this problem, so I just want to say, "Thank you asshole guy wherever y... more >>

Comments: Really needs a new bolt at the 2nd crux, if anyone has the motivation to do that. We would all appreciate it Im sure. Right now, it's a rusty half inch SMC. Be safe out there.

Comments: FA Todd Skinner, or FA Boone Speed? Anyone have the history on this. I know it says Todd in the AF guide, but asking around the area, people say Boone did it first. Maybe Boone is associated with it because he did FAs of half of everything else, and is climbing it in Masters of Stone?

Comments: Looks like glue-ins were added by a generous individual alongside the older bolts.

Note: some of the fixed draws look pretty manky, with worn bottom and top biners: a couple of the rope-grooved biners were just switched to the top biner!

I'm going to bring a few project draws to replace the ones that are there next time I'm out, but if you're there in the interim, take care.

Comments: A beautiful runnel that climbs just exactly as it looks. Well worth it! But don't break an ankle - the landing is kind of bad.

Comments: Sorry the directions didn't get you there. You don't pass by Lefty on the trail up to the Chaos boulders. The boulder/wall with Lefty on it is off to the left, out of sight of the trail, as you head up hill towards Chaos.

Comments: Love the discussion. No US grading system works great for grading short cracks. The best you can say, I think, is like Travis Eiseman is quoted as saying in the guide, "that would be like the crux on a 5.X route". Even that doesn't work very well, bc the grade of a trad pitch has a lot to do with pump and sometimes the additional pump of placing gear, depending on the local mindset.

For Crack of Doom, a boulderer with little crack experience could make this a v6. And a crack climber with littl... more >>
