Comments: Shame the climbing is not sustained, but despite the short crux the climbing is fun.

Comments: I agree on the sketchy rock comment. While the movement was good, the rock quality was not good.

Comments: Perhaps a squeeze job up high, but the movement is great and the sustained technical nature of the route is very enjoyable.

Comments: Watch out for the creaking undercut/sidepull hold above the 3rd bolt. It will blow soon.

10a is a good grade for this - there is no way that it is 10c.

Comments: 5.8 in the guide but solid 5.9, means it catches many unwary leaders out. Meat of the climb is in the first half.

Comments: 10b? I don't think so. Very soft. However, it is still fun climbing but more like 9+/10-

Comments: Glad you are OK. Hard to to believe a second fire has occurred in the same area this year. It certainly picked up fast, as we watched, from Mammoth, the smoke rise up on Saturday afternoon.

Comments: The original way is straight up. No holds have broken although they are small.

Definitely a couple grades easier to head left to reach the dike.

The original is 10b slab.

Comments: I asked Shondeen to provide more info to make the pages useful a long time ago, but I never got a response. I was never asked to delete it, but since the info is useless as it is the page should probably be removed.

Comments: Very thin and stretched out. I didn't find holds on the line indicated in the topo, but I did find holds a few feet to the right.

Comments: I have hiked the Black Mountain trail in winter. I did pack shoes and a chalk bag and managed a problem or two but the weather was cold - tips froze. Also the bases of many of the boulders held a lot of snow.

If you want to boulder drive to Josh.

Comments: Feb is a great time to visit. To be honest any time of the year is good, but Feb will have great conditions for bouldering and the gorge will be in good shape for sport routes. High sierra routes will be in full winter conditions so take that into account.

Getting around Bishop and the owens valley is no issue. If you head up north to Mammoth and beyond you may need to have chains, but storms generally blow through in a day or two and after that roads are clear.

Comments: Funky climb. Interesting rock and very different to the rock on the other problems in this area - bullet hard and polished.

Comments: This problem has had no breakage, and it is stiff for V4, so perhaps V5 is more realistic.

Comments: Listed as broken in the Bishop bouldering guide. In its current form the problem climbs nicely and is solid at the V6 grade. Definitely a few grades harder than the other Crippler problems.

Comments: This crag is actively being developed. Some routes are bolted and red tagged, while others have anchors with no bolts these are closed projects until cleaned up and bolting is complete.

Comments: Yes a small rock in a slanting crack. Not great, but after the crux the gear is bomber and the holds solid all the way to the top.
