Comments: Not to add to the fire but this is pretty much the same route just a little left. I usually climb this route and always considered it the "End" and at the same time I see people mix it up between this "route" and the "End" often, especially when it is their first time on the "End". Seems like this maybe this should be listed as a variation of the "End" on it's page and not listed as a completely separate route.

Comments: Keegan,

My wife and I went there in September of 07 for our 1 year anniversary. We took a ferry from Pothia (the main port for Athens) and stayed at the Melinda's Apartments. They were great and cheap even though Kalymnos is becoming more and more touristy. We toured some of the other Greek islands and overall we just loved Kalymnos the most. The climbing is all really accessible and most climbs have their name painted on the bottom of the climb. There is a great guide book that is sold ev... more >>

Comments: You can put my name on it. Anything to provide access for "silent" sports on public land. Can we send a petition around via email? That might work to get more people signed on. If it is a state threatened or endangered species that is the cause for the recent closure we can probably work something out with the DNR were the climbing would only be in certain areas or at certain times of the year or day even.

Comments: The ice was pretty weak around the first of the month. There is a lot of potential here. A little investment and there could be an exeptional ice park, which would definitely boost the local winter-time economy.

Comments: I never got to climb this, because when I was belaying Dan this huge rock moved on him and freaked the living crap out of me. So, he cleaned his gear on rap.

Comments: Honestly, it has been a long time since I did this climb and I don't have any idea what it was rated but I think somewhere around 5.8+ should do it. We did this top rope in around 2000 or 2001.

Location: WI : Devil's Lake : West Bluff - Cleo Amphithea... : Turk's Head : Turk's Head Ridge (5.8)

Comments: Had a great time on a shorter variation of this route. It was dirty and wild. I loved it! The variation was a low angled slab to the right of a wall that had the left to right angling crack that looked about 5.8ish. And went up through a series of ledges for about 120 ft to a ledge N of Turks Head. It was low grade probably like a 5.4 or something, but man was it dirty fun!

Comments: Fun route on lead. Good bolt placement. The route on the right side of this wall we use to call "Barn Yard". The lower sections of Barnyard are climbable on TR, but on the top you would have to climb through the top of the yellow birch that has fallen over.

Comments: This climb is extremely variable depending on amount of ice that forms that year it can be either one solid apron rated about WI 3-4 or a series of incomplete ice flows making it WI 6 or harder.

Location: WI : Hillbilly Hollow : Hillbilly Routes : Manic Depression (5.11c)
By: Erik Olson When: Jul 21, 2007

Comments: Manic Depression and Trundle Pete are the same route. The route further right has been sessioned many times and seems to be extremely difficult and I beleive no one has made it further than say 10-15 feet from the ground. I beleive that Manic Depression is at least in the 5.12 range, but then again I am only 5'10" and when I did the last moves I did them staticly vs dynamicly.

Comments: I beleive this is the same climb I just posted a few days ago as "Manic Depression". I will have to check it out when I get down there to be sure. If it is the same climb the rating of 5.11b seems a bit low.

Comments: This is a great route, I climbed it quite a few years ago with dlanglois on top rope (along with another route on that face that was pretty fun and just as dirty at the time). I am excited to give it a go on lead. Have to check it out the weekend after next.

Comments: Ship Rock does hold some fun lines but is hardly worth the drive and the rock can break off while in the midst of a trad climb. I would suggest instead the drive to Devils Lake or Interstate State Park.

Comments: Rabbit rock is like one of dlanglois favorite climbs. He loves choss and loose rock. He just doesn't want you visiting his #1 climbing area.

Comments: I have been climbing at the Hollow for many years now and have even put together a climbing guide to the area and many other areas, but stopped because I did not want to see some of my favorite climbing areas overrun. Many of these climbing areas in Wisconsin have unique ecological niches and some are even off limits due to endangered plant species. Also, many of these climbing areas are not suited for large amounts or even a minor increase in visitors to the area. When providing information ... more >>
