Comments: Great warm up and introduction to slab for new climbers. Gear is good. The crux move miggggght be 5.7, but it's all there. You just gotta trust your feet, they'll stick. I think 5.6 is fair.

Comments: Great move and nice line up this boulder. I'd say it goes at a solid V2.

Comments: Awesome route! Gets sun all morning in the winter. I'd like to try it as one pitch with a 70m. Would be great endurance training.

Comments: I'd agree the falls aren't bad because I took a couple good ones. Cleaning the route if the second leads is a pain in the ass though.

Comments: Just got on this sucker. I thought it was super fun, but not quite a classic. Also thought it to be the epitome of Josh 5.9. If Bird of Fire is .10a, Pope's is definitely easier.

Thought it was pretty similar in difficulty to Touch and Go. I want to do it again with the roof variation. How is that move pulling the roof? Looks fun!

Comments: Classic! One of my new favorite lines at Josh. On my first attempt I tried to plug a #3 BD at the top to protect the top out, not knowing it was all jugs. Got pumped in the process and took a nice, fun 15 footer on a .4 BD. Ignored the big cam at the top the second time and finished on the jugs no problem. So fun!

Comments: A fun warm up if you are confident at the grade. If you are pushing the grade a great climb that is easy to protect with many bomber nut placements. I'm 5'7 and found the traverse to be a bit exciting, but not bad once you figure out the feet. You can place a super good large nut before you make the traverse, quickdraw and sling it, then another bomber nut on the left crack, quickdraw and sling it. Do this and you will have very little rope drag.

I'd call it 5.8.

Comments: Just got back from a couple days in VOM...super rad! Amazing how similar it is to Josh, but in the middle of nowhere. Talked to a couple Border Patrol agents who said that VOM is one of the most popular spots for crossings and human trafficking.

Comments: As of April 27, the 3rd pitch still had a little creek running down it making it a little more interesting.

Comments: Just did this route last week. It was still pretty wet and mossy and definitely felt more like a 9 than an 8 to me!

Comments: I agree. I am a fairly new leader and thought this route to be easier than other 5.7's such as Mr. Misty Kiss or Double Cross. It is a good line and there is plenty of pro. I wish I had known about that sling anchor instead of downclimbing the backside.
